Simply put, we forgot our lunch pails again. It's fun to hit threes. It's fun to run and gun. The first half was fun.
It's hard to swarm to the ball on D. It's hard to grab key boards. It's hard to keep your focus on the road. The second half was hard.
And when the going got tough, the Hoyas' tough took a vacation. I don't even know if this is correctable anymore. It's just difficult to watch this team be so toothless.
We have the easiest of easy games coming up to break the streak. I'm hoping the Hoyas can at least play well in that one and get inspired for the second half of the conference season.

Seems to me it's our offense that's hurting us. Rather than playing the deliberate, wait for the good shot offense of the last few years, we've decided to 'speed it up', As a result, our opponents get more possesions, and aren't as tired from playing defense for so long. I don't even remember a possesion (I could be wrong), where the shot clock popped up in the corner of the screen because it was under 10 seconds. That used to happen all the time.

well jt3 keeps playing nikita so he must feel that he has the best shot from behind the arc
they ran up against a senior laden team at home and paid the consequences
its disappointed that they didnt play this well against seton hall and cincy...times wouldnt be so bad right now
they looked better today and, honestly, thats all i was hoping for
a win at marquette was gonna be a miracle
the season isnt over...but they are starting to run out of time

I think Nikita played better defense than anyone else on the team today. Marquette is probably the quickest team in the Big East, but still, have to play defense better than they did today. Very frustrating, considering how good a defense the Hoyas have had under JTIII. Then again, all those teams had Roy Hibbert anchoring the defense.

I think Nikita will continue to get more and more playing time. We are a different team with him in the game.

Well the good news is if we played like we did today the last week and a half, we beat SHU and Cincy and maybe WVU too. But you can't play that kind of defense against Marquette and win.

The perfect remedy for a 5 game slump is Rutgers at home and a chance for redemption against Cincy at home...
Que "but we have no heart we cant win those etc etc etc" . Winning is a habit...lets get on a two game habit...at home....regroup and finsish the season strong....guys just need there confidence back.
Anyone that watched this game today and blames them for effort , well, I dont understand. There is a difference between dissapointed and discouraged. Marquette is very good. We are not on their level. And thats fine for now. But at least we didnt look like we were playing with Fisher Price my first offense out there....Im dissapointed we lost, but not discouraged...
9-9 in BE probably gets you in. (our SOS is pretty high) we are 3-6 with rutgers, depaul, cinci, st.johns, sflorida left.....thats 5 winable games ( i know at this point its not a gaurantee) ...so we need to steal at least one from marquette or louisville at home , or villanova /syracuse on the road... at the beginning of the year if you would have told me we would finish 19-10 or 18-11 regular season, my homerism would have said ney....but my brain would have said.."thats quite possible" ...whether you spread our ten losses or get 5 in a row...you still have ten...pack the phone booth and support the team!!!!....keep the faith ....

I thought better offense than the past few games,...against a very good team. The fact is we are young and are playing like it...some very bad decisions continue, like CW forcing a drive against numbers on a fast break...when we still had the lead...it was downhill from there. Turnovers still are a major problem and where is the Gtwn "D"...can't seem to get a stop against a HS team right now.

Before the game I would have been satisfied with a 12 point loss, but as the game unfolded it became very painful. Foul. Turnover. Easy MU basket. Turnover. Easy MU basket. Turnover. Foul.
Tough to watch, especially with the way the team was shooting.

i have the stats at my office but under jt3...the hoyas win around 90% of the games where they score more than 68
just checked out the box score...being outscored by 22 at the line is a tough way to try and win on the road

I wonder if the team is so mentally focused on offense given the recent failures they failed to play defense. A guard-laden appointment that has so many offensive weapons requires a slower paced game on the offense and tight defense. The first half didn't comfort me. I didn't think the offense prowess was sustainable. Defense would have won this game for us and it just was not there. The team has lost identity on both ends of the floor. It's one thing to play your game and lose but we aren't playing our game in any of these losses. I start to wonder now what is our game? Yes, the best available shot on offense, but defense? Where is the team's directive and who is giving them this? Should be the coaches but again they don't wear the uniforms.
