...but after watching last night's game between Wake and Duke and comparing it to the Illinois/MSU game, I don't think their 'teams' are better than the other big conferences...(except Carolina)...I still think they're good, but not what they were hyped up to be...
Unless one of those teams were just really en fuego, I really like our chances against any of them because of JTIII's system...The ACC schools want to get up and down the floor, and our offense slows you down...and if you're impatient on defense, that's when we start back-door-ing teams and getting easy-looks...
I still believe the ACC will have about 4 teams in the Sweet 16, and Carolina will win it all, but the rest of the ACC is going to struggle more than Dickie V thinks...

THE LATEST WAS PROVIDENCE WINLESS IN THE BIG EAST BY HOW MANY OVER UVA This season, using Providence and Virginia as examples of Big East and ACC teams is like saying that the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals (now with a meaner logo!) are NFL teams. I mean, yeah they are in the league...but come on. The ACC is an excellent conference. The Big East is an excellent conference. Next season, the debate should be pretty short-lived, but this season, they're both strong. The top teams in the Big East have certainly done more to shoot themselves in the foot than the top ACC teams have, though (and I'm talking to YOU, Pitt and UConn). Speaking of the Cardinals' new logo...the "Quote of the Day" on the Sports Guy page made me laugh ALOT. From Josh McCown, quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals "NFL team": "The only birds I know about are the duck and the dove and the quail, birds that you shoot. You're not really supposed to shoot cardinals. I don't know if I'd shoot this bird. It looks pretty mean. This bird might pull a gun out and shoot right back at you."

There are only two good/great teams in the ACC, Wake Forest and Carolina. The rest of the league is mediocre.

Wake, Duke, and NC are three of the premier teams in the country. I think top to bottom the Big East is the better conference, but after having watched NC demolish NC state last night, I think at this point the three top ACC teams would crush our top 3 of BC, Syracuse, and Pitt/UConn. Anyone who watched the game last night would agree, NC looked like an NBA team. They absolutely shredded State.
The 6-1 Big East vs. ACC stat is nice, but misleading. As far as I can remember, most of those victories were against Clemson, Virginia, and NC state. Not exactly the cream of the crop. The top three of the ACC are really good, and its going to take tourney time for the Big East to prove itself as the best conference in the country. Until then, the ACC is king.

I guess we'll have a good chance to get a sense of the top vs. top (or at least top v. upper middle) in a couple of weeks, when UNC visits the UConn Huskies in Hartford.
While I'm pretty sure the Heels will take that one, it would be a huge win for the BE if UConn pulled it off.

They have had soft ACC schedule so far, excluding Wake Forest. They are not a premier team this year.

...and the influence of the BE influx: Plenty of Middle Ground in ACC Success of Miami, Virginia Tech Clouds Conference's NCAA Picture

You are right about their schedule to some extent, but beating Michigan State and Oklahoma (at Oklahoma) was impressive.. They look dangerous. Are they better than NC or Wake? No. Are they better than BC. Yes, definitely. Are they better than Cuse, I think so, but with less certainty. In any case, their next 3 games against GT, UNC, and a Maryland rematch will prove me right or wrong.

My bad, Duke played OK in NYC (not in Oklahoma). Still a good victory though

This entire thread is nauseating.
BLEEECCCCHHHH!!!
You - we - are fans of a Big East school. Period. Ipso Fatso, the ACC sucks. No argument. No discussion. And no goddam beef jerky. The ACC sucks. Plain and simple.
Duke? Sucks. Wake? Sucks. UNC? Sucks. Maryland? Oh, they really suck. I mean, I've seen teams suck before, but they're the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
It's not jealousy. It's not envy. Our conference is better than theirs. Per. I. Od.
Man, this is why the Big East-ACC Challenge needs to come back. We can't have this "The ACC is sooo talented..." kind of discussion going on. Some may have forgotten. The ACC-Big East Challenge will remind them.
Repeat after me: The ACC sucks. The ACC sucks. The ACC sucks.
Say that every morning when you get up and every night when you go to bed.
Always remember, you can't spell nutsacck without ACC.

Duke had their minor league schedule at the start of the season. They now have two games against Georgia Tech, two against North Carolina and one against Maryland and Wake Forest. Let's see how good they are in that stretch.

"Much of what was expected from the vaunted ACC has held to form as the conference reaches the midpoint of its first season using an unbalanced schedule. The surprises? Miami and Virginia Tech -- the two schools that just joined the ACC."
So let me get this straight. The ACC is so good that the two bottom dwellers of the Big East who were picked to finish last in the ACC perseason poll have been miraculously elevated just by being in the best conference in the country. Could it be that the overall quality of the ACC was not as great as everyone thought?
North Carolina Coach Roy Williams -- "The only teams we are being beaten by now are teams in our league. I still think the ACC is the best in the country."
Err, umm I wasn't talking about Providence beating up on an ACC team the other night. Every conference is in the midst of playing and beating the other teams in their resepctive conference right now. Silly quote.
Maryland, Virginia, and NC State -- If I'm not mistaken, at the beginning of the season some people were actually making the argument that as many as 8 ACC teams would make the NCAA tournament this year including these three teams.
ACC Pre-Season Poll 1st-Place Votes Pts 1. Wake Forest (65) 2. North Carolina (13) 3. Georgia Tech (10) 4. Duke (3) 5. NC State 6. Maryland 7. Florida State 8. Virginia 9. Clemson 10. Virginia Tech 11. Miami
NC State has gotten killed out of conference. Maryland and Virginia haven't done too well either. Fact of the matter is, when you get past the top four teams, they aren't that great of a conference. The top two teams are excellent -- no doubt. But a superconference they are not. The ACC lovefest has got to stop.
