Some comments of interest:
Fredericksburg, Va.: Has the Big East been underrated for the last few years or the ACC overrated? Tech and Miami come in and were talked like they would be an embarrasment to the league and water it down. Halfway through league play and they are right in the middle of the standings, while in the Big East they were usually on the bottom. And last night ACC slug Virginia plays the worst team in the Big East and gets destroyed.
Eric Prisbell: Good point. I’m writing a story for tomorrow’s paper about the midpoint of the ACC schedule, so I will address some of those issues. I don’t think the ACC was overrated because it is deeper than expected (Virginia Tech and Miami) and is also extremely strong at the top (UNC and Wake are Final Four favorites).
I think the Big East was underrated. No question Boston College was very underrated, or not rated at all. Let’s not forget that a Big East school has won the past two national titles.
I wouldn’t measure the strength of the ACC by anything UVA does. The Cavaliers look like they are merely playing out the string now. It’s sad.

Baltimore, Md.: How many more Big East wins would Georgetown need to be off the bubble for the tournament? 4?
Eric Prisbell: I believe, historically speaking, that if Georgetown gets four more Big East victories (and they definitely can and maybe should) that they will be invited to the NCAA tournament. If they only get three more, they’ll be sweating it out heavily on Selection Sunday. A win or more in the BE tournament will help, too.

College Park, Md.: Who has the better inside track at reaching the NCAA tournament -- Georgetown or Maryland? Be honest please.
Eric Prisbell: Both need four more wins during the regular season to feel confident about a berth.
Maryland has somewhat of an easier schedule, I believe, so I will say Maryland. That said, the Terps are so unpredictable maybe I shouldn’t underestimate Georgetown.
I think they both will make it and get matched up in a 7-10 game out in Boise.

Chicago, Ill.: I see our loss to BC has quieted some of the bandwagon Hoya fans who submitted so many questions last week. I still am shock that this team has a good chance at making the tourney. My god they will be good next year.
Eric Prisbell: I agree. But, yes, Georgetown is in pretty good position now to earn a bid, barring some unforeseen string of defeats.
