Nominated for sure but he didn't make that game. i have heard a lot of announcers say that as well in games as soon as he comes of the bench this season.

Sloppy, but a pretty reasonable mistake. One would think that in an area as loaded with talent as DC, that the Met player of the year would be a McD's All-American.

I read the same thing but I noticed that she said "McDaa credentials" she was probably just referring to his nomination

Someone asked Chris once this year about playing in the backcourt with yet another McDonald's All-American freshman in Jason Clark, and it looked as if he momentarily thought about correcting that reporter, but he bit his tongue and went on to answer the question.

Liz Clarke is terrible. Terrible, and has been all season.
She's an awful writer, and she's really showing herself to be a shoddy reporter as well, which is worse than being an awful writer.
First she says that the Hoyas have limited options when Greg Monroe gets into foul trouble. Then, in the very next paragraph, goes on to say how many options the backcourt has comng off the bench.
Well Liz, options are options.
The McDonald's all-american thing is a bad mistake, and one that signifies lazy reporting. I appreciate TIHoya trying to cover for Liz, but it's just plain old bad reporting. She definitely thought he was in the game last season, and if you cover the team fulltime, you should definitely know who and who didn't make the game.
She's made some really asinine statements this season, like when she said that UConn "has an NBA prospect at every position", which was one of the dumbest things I've read this year.
She has neither the talent, nor the reporting skills, nor the passion for the beat, that Camille had. Barker's simply eating her coverage alive this season, as where it was competitive during Camille's tenure.
It's sad because the Post is one of the best sports sections in the country. And, theoretically, you need to be good to make it to that level, and Clarke is not good. Not at all.
She writes as if she doesn't want to be on this beat. And even sadder, putting her on this beat signifies, to me at least, that Emilio, the sports editor, doesn't consider the Hoya beat a significant priority.

Good for Chris... wise decision by a young guy.

It's sad because the Post is one of the best sports sections in the country. Really? Times have changed, I guess, 'cause the Post sports section used to be mediocre, at best.

Amongst sports journalists, the Post is a destination job, which is what I based my statement on, Filo.

totally agree with daytona. liz clarke has gotten alot of facts wrong this year-- not knowing who started last year is one example. i stopped reading her after the first few articles this year. At least Barker knows the team. Clarke's coverage is inadequate for Hoya fans who follow this team on a daily basis.

In that case, GUHoyas.com should correct Jason's profile:
High School: Played four years of basketball at Bishop O'Connell where he was named captain ... Named All-Met Player of the Year and State Most Valuable Player as a senior ... Averaged 20.2 points per game as a senior, helping the Knights advance to the final of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and Virginia private school tournaments .... Scored in double figures in every game as a senior and in 71 of his last 72 games ... A two-time All-Met selection ... Named to the McDonald's All American Team.
Personal: Son of Audrey Clark ... Has two sisters, Keshia who attended George Mason, and Tiffany ... Plans to major in sociology.

This is not an irrelevant error since it gets repeated often by TV announcers who are only doing their homework.

TV is one thing. announcers do one game and go. The beat writer who follows the team on a reglar basis needs to know these things.

You can fault her. How much does it hurt to ask somebody. It's like spelling a kids name right. You ask, you confirm. It's called reporting.

She should need to double check something that cut and dried from the SID? Granted, we know Clark was not a McDAA because we were following his recruitment and the announcement of those teams last year when it happened. While we were doing that, Ms. Clarke was covering NASCAR and the Olympics with hardly a thought about the Hoyas, probably right until September or October when she was given the beat. It seems reasonable enough that Clark would be a Burger Boy given his other credentials, why would she be compelled to think twice about it when it appears as a fact in his official team bio?

At least two sources. Always. This isn't reporting on WMD in Iraq. We are talking basic basketball background info on a team's own players. It is absurd that a major error like that is on our website, and probably in our media guide too. How to spell someone's name? You need two sources? Every single fact you need to ask someone else? is he REALLY a freshman? Is he REALLY from Virginia? Please.... blaming Liz for something that is clearly an error on the part of GU is entirely inappropriate.
