For the record: I never once worshipped Duke. In fact, I said I can't stand them in general. However, the question was around Redick and I hate to admit that he's one hell of a college player that every team in the country would love to have.
I think Coach K is a whiny crybaby and all and I always root against them in general, but Redick is one heck of a player and shooter.

Do you think Jim Calhoun wanted Reddick on his team when he beat Duke last year. Do you think Gary Williams wants Reddick on his team, when he beat Duke this year at Cameron indoor stadium. No, I don't think so. We don't need Reddick and his overrated Duke team and Conference. What we have is fine here,JTIII and a bright future for years to come.

Ummm...I guarantee you that both of those guys would want Redick. Just because they lost doesn't mean that they wouldn't want anyone else to make them better.
Being a homer is fine and I love the Hoyas too, but the minute you put blinders on you lose perspective. The Hoyas are going to be very good in the years to come behind JTIII and the recruiting is only going to get better over the next couple of years. I'm completely jazzed about everything going on. Especially having our coach outcoach team after team...it's a beautiful thing.
I'll take Redick on my team though as would any other coach in D-1.

Reddick is my kind of player but Duke is not a team I root for or against.
BTW, when did Duke and Georgetown become rivals?

I'd take Reddick on my team, if he played defense, which he doesn't. When you play great O, but no D, it negates your impact. How many titles has Duke won, since Reddick has been on the scene: NONE. So yeah he has a pretty jump shot, but he brings no other intangibles to the table.

BTW, when did Duke and Georgetown become rivals? Part of it is because Duke is seen as the media's darling who they overhype (as people have been saying) so most college bball fans don't like them. Secondly, there's a certain amount of jealousy/rivalry in that Duke has succeeded Gtown as the small college w/ amazing academics that dominates in arguably the best conference that everyone hates.

Yup. Duke would be lost without him. Do any of our recruits, Sapp in particular, have a game like Reddick? I mean, pure shooter/pure scrorer skills? That is what this current team is clearly missing. We have great ball movement, it's beautful at times, then someone back irons a wide-open three and it goes to waste. Josh Thornton. Maybe not as good, but in the same mold. Dead-eye shooter. Sapp is more of a slasher, as are Egerson and Spann.

wow, great article... I don't know why anyone would,nt want Redick. You can hate Duke but you can't say Redick isn't a great shooter/player

I would say he is a great shooter. As a player, you need to have other facets of the game besides just running off screens shooting jump shots.

just called him the best free throw shooter and perhaps the best shooter THAT EVER LIVED. Hes good but jeez this whole duke/acc lovefest has got to end. UNC and Wake are great this year, no one else is that impressive. The statement Patrick made truly is mind boggling, Larry Bird, Jerry West, the list goes on and on, cant wait for Redick to be a scrub in the L The three point line hasn't been around that long... JJ Redick is a good shooter...but so was Steve Alford...JJ is a product of the Media Machine... Put a big defender on him like Gerald Riley, he's a liability...

So true. This board's jealousy is disappointing. I like Duke...because it's what I want G'town to be again. ('cept I like having a coach with a pronouncable name, living in the city, and teams that will kill you with defensive pressure and a smart offense. ) Otherwise, let us be Duke in different colors. They've got the student section (minus the dumb cheer sheets) 2007 craves. They've got the recruiting we all adore. They've got the prestiege we want back. They've got the intimidation factor we want to regain. And they get the attention and hyping on ESPN all of you ESPN "haters" abhor, but secretly desire.

Please don't tell me what I want. If GU patterns its athletics after a school, it'd be Stanford I'd pick.
I would much rather be "Darth Vader" to use Wilbon's words than whiny Luke Skywalker.

I agree, Stanford is the model...not Duke.
Better academics, better althletics, beautiful locations, diverse student body, well endowed and was founded as an alternative to the wasp-plagued halls of the ivy league.
