Here's the intro of the email...not attaching the actual form for privacy purposes:
Dear Student,
The Georgetown Athletics Department, in an effort to enhance the experience for fans of our men's basketball program, is conducting some market research and we are requesting a few moments of your time to participate in a customer survey.
Coach Thompson and the 2004-2005 Hoyas are generating tremendous buzz with their accomplishments on the court this season. While the on-court success is a major part of the Georgetown basketball experience, there are other elements that contribute to the excitement as well. This survey is intended to provide valuable feedback so that we can better serve you this season and in exciting seasons in the future. Just click on the link below and follow the directions in filling out the web based survey. All responses will remain anonymous and the entire survey can be completed in less than five minutes. If you would like to be entered in a drawing for one of ten $50 gift certificates to the campus bookstore, please enter your email address at the conclusion of the survey.

Thanks, Nevada.
The gist of my answers to the survey: MCI is too family oriented; cheerleaders are bad; and the student section is misplaced.

Glad to see that Student Affairs and the AD are undertaking this effort. Hopefully they are able to obtain the type of feedback that can help the program to make the strides necessary to enhance the overall experience for all fans, but particularly the current students.

Please, anyone who receives this e-mail or anything in the mail, fill it out. If GU is going to reach out like this, the least anyone could do is to take 10 minutes of board time to fill out the questionnaire.

As Jersey said, this is an opportunity to send feedback to the Athletic Dept-I urge everyone who gets the survey to fill it out.

I just took the survey and liked it a lot. Along with the research value of it, they got certain words out there like "Hoya Hoop Club," "HoyaSaxa.com," etc.

The survey was also being conducted at other places in MCI tonight. If a surveyor approaches you at a game, make sure to take the five minutes to answer their questions.

Does anyone know if this is a student-only survey?
Not sure if they have a student-specific aim for this survey, but I see a lot of value in offering it to alumni and Hoop Club members as well. (I count myself in both groups and would certainly fill one out.)
If it's available online (post the survey on GUHoyas.com, for example), all the better--the survey population could then easily extend beyond the student & alumni databases.
ADDITION: Just saw Joe Hoya's response after I submitted my post. I think it's great that they're polling people at the arena, but still would love to see them offer this survey online.

I'm pretty sure it's for alumni too-where they're getting the email/mail addresses from (aside from HHC), I don't know however.

From what I've heard, the survey will be going out to all alumni in the DC area, as well as all season ticket holders (alumni and non-alumni). Not sure about the Hoop Club, but I would imagine that to be the case as well. The main purpose of the survey is to get feedback regarding Men's Basketball home games and the current and potential market, so I don't think there's going to be a lot of oureach (on this particular survey instrument) to alumni outside the DC area, but I would expect that once the information from this survey is gathered, there will be more extensive efforts in terms of alumni around the country.

There is no place to write real comments on that survey. I can't give them all my steps to a better Arena if they don't let me.

I would suggest that you write an e-mail to Hoyas Unlimited. They want to hear the feedback. This survey is only market research, and the next step will be to identify the more qualitative things that need to be done. So, if you could start them off with some ideas, I am sure that it would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the link. I filled it out and although I do not wish to complain about a survey that represents a move in the right direction, I would have liked a couple changes.
First, there should be at least one box where we have the chance to write some open-ended / additional comments.
Second, they didn't ask us about sports marketing, promotions, etc. While this survey may come from this part of the Athletics Dpt., given that most of us here have raised issues about the SID and others, I would have liked a chance to address this.
Finally, I thought the "Agree" / "Disagree" transition could have used one category. For instance:
"The ticketing process was clearly communicated and easy to follow," & "I found the ticketing personnel to be helpful in accommodating my ticketing needs."
I don't know whether to agree or disagree with these statements. While I don't want to totally disagree, given that I haven't had a terrible experience, I am reluctant to select disagree. But then again, I find the ticketing people to be insufficient and not proactive when it comes to providing the right information, seats and tickets to the right people.
For instance, if I (or many of us on this board) were in charge of ticketing, I really believe that I would know almost every single season ticket holder (perhaps not all the students) by name, especially the diehards, etc. I find it terrible that only a year after graduating, and giving $250 to the Hoya Hoop Club (which is a lot for a young alum), nobody in ticketing seemed to know who I was or acknowledge me. Even at the BET, when I wanted to get extra tickets and went to Kim Frank, she didn't really seem to care whether I was an alum, a scalper, a Hoop Club member, etc. Now wouldn't it be great if she even asked, and if they allowed Hoop Club members and alum special privleges or priority?
There are several Hoop Club and athletics people who know me, and I've been fortunate enough to have some friends who are better connected, but if I were in these positions, at every MCI game, etc., I would know who these people are. I mean, this board only has around 1000 people on it, and most of us are diehards. Now, I know that it's hard to know 1000, but if you get paid to, there are many people who know many more.
Now, I know that this may be outside of the job description, but there are so many die-hards who spend their free time eating, sleeping and drinking Hoya Hoops, why not get one of us to run this department, where we would be happy to spend 40 hours extra each week promoting the Hoyas. I really believe that we could fill more seats, raise more money, etc. by going after the little guys too, not just the big donors. Just look how much success has been achieved among the student section with only a handful of young students serving as catalysts!
Well, that's my rant. Thanks again for the survey link, and everybody, fill this out!!!
LET'S GO HOYAS!!! ROLLOVER RUTGTERS AT THE RAC!
