I think you might feel differently when you are a senior...trust me, you'll want all the perks and start posting here about how you aren't getting enough.

GU 71 SHU 49
Ashanti surprises even himself and has a career night with a triple double. Who was the last Hoya (if any) to do this?

I love the enthusism folks, but this SHU team is MUCH better than people are giving them credit for. They lost their first 4 games in the Big East against ND, Pitt, Syr. and UConn. Kind of brutal. Add to that losses to Texas (which was close down the stretch) and Richmond and Northwestern and this team isn't too bad.
They are MUCH bigger than we are in the backcourt and could cause problems with their outside shooting.
They beat Rutgers and St. John's relatively soundly recently and let's just say we didn't blow either of those teams out.
THis is going to be a tough game and I'm pretty worried about the psychological effect from the BC game on a VERY young team.
Hoyas 66 SHU 64
In a much closer game than people think...be wary folks.

I'm not sure exactly what they're calling it (I'm not a senior, so I haven't been paying too much attention), but it's a time of the year where seniors do all kinds of activities-the senior auction is soon, their was a date auction, they're selling/handing out bracelets, etc.... Anyway, supposedly the first five rows are being reserved for seniors, which, in my opinion is a huge mistake-why put so much effort into getting an amazing student section and then potentially ruin it by populating the front rows w/ seniors instead of diehards? I can understand saving a section of good seats for seniors (like rows 5-10 perhaps?) but the first 5 rows? I mean, I think this excludes pretty much the entire normal front row crowd. So once again, if it's true, odds are their will be a riot (and a mediocre student section for our 1 national TV home game) People, its called Winterfest. It's another week-long celebration for the Senior Class put on by the Senior Class Committee. The same thing as Disorientation, basically, except all the events for the most part are off-campus. TBird, you're acting like a whiny little jerk, no offense. What's wrong with giving these seniors, who have given more time to the university than you, a break for once and letting them actually getting to sit courtside for one game? Is it really going to affect the student section that much? The entire normal front row crowd are not necessarily better fans than anyone else. You might be surprised by the seniors who show up tonight, who knows. And by threatening to riot, you sound like a petulant little kid. It's not your god-given right by any stretch of the imagination to sit in the front row. I mean, the hoya arch angel didnt float down from above and personally bless those seats for you and GUHoya2007 and everyone else who sits there. Come on now. Stop complaining, do your best from row 6. The team ain't gonna care where you sit, as long as there are people there cheering. Oh yeah, my prediction: Tyler Crawford's posse: 59 The Eddie Griffin Debacle: 54 White wool top short black skirt one beautiful aroma

Since Boston College broke my streak of the Hoyas playing competitively (at least score-wise)...
I'll take the Hoyas 64-59...

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with the idea that making a big deal out of Senior Night isn't a bad thing. I graduated last year so I still talk to plenty of people in the Senior Class, and at least 3 people that are currently Seniors have all mentioned to me that they are planning on going to the game, etc. These are 3 people that most likely wouldn't be going otherwise, so anything we can do to get more bodies in the seats is a good thing in my book. The more the merrier, so go nuts in the 6th row and spread that enthusiasm forward.
I agree that the game will most likely not be a blow out, so we'll take all the extra fan support we can get.
Hoyas 63 Pirates 57.
RaMell goes for 9.
PS - Can we please reference the Taco Bell commercials where the guy's like "Oh, I'm a Pirate" somehow tonight?

I say Hoyas start hot (finally) then let them creep back early in the second half on a long scoring drought, but finally put things together later for an 8 point victory... say 63-55.

Cook scores no points but has an unwordly 10 assists and 10 steals for a double-double.
How's that?

Fantastic. I think that might be cooler if Ashanti had 10 assists and 10 steals, as long as someone was getting the scoring done. You know, give him 10 blocks too for the triple double, now you're on to something. Just don't want to forget Cook... he's been crucial, especially late. Come to think of it, one good point on that pirates website article was that the BE games where Cook scored less than 10, Gtown lost. So, maybe we should give him 10 pts too. I think as long as he plays an effective role in our offense, that's the important thing. No disappearing from games...
I'm still waiting for Roy to get a triple double for pts, boards and blocks...
Go Hoyas! Beat the Pirates

Cook gets 10 points, but gets them ALL from the line, almost single handedly pushing the Hall into foul trouble...

As for free throws, it seems we shoot them well early, before the game gets high-pressured and close, but then fare poorly later in games. DJ's finish at Nova a great example to the contrary, but my memory makes me think free throws are trouble for us down the stretch. And our team FT % also seems not great (66%?).
But they're gonna play great tonight. I have to admit I'm a little concerned, how much the BC bump in the road will affect them. We need to regather the energy that got us going this season. Time to take it the "yarrrrrrrs", as Coast2CoastHoya likes to say.

Senior Night a good thing, especially if it brings more of us into the Phonebooth. Just take this as a challenge to get the seniors jazzed up for the game.
Win one for Freddie Brown!
