I am losing more and more respect for these polls. It's becoming obvious that more and more writers and coaches are voting for their favorite team/school, etc for the 25th place vote. Or do they really think the following teams are better than Georgetown, and may other schools:
Vermont Air Force LSU HOLY CROSS?!?!?!?!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME. That's ridiculous.

HOLY CROSS?!?!?!?!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME. That's ridiculous. Holy Cross vote has to be Feinstein. He's on record that he gives his 25th place vote to a smaller school (generally Patriot League) to give them some press. Feinstein = Bum

You mean Holy Cross and their 1-5 record against Top 100 RPI teams? How could they not be top 25? I mean, after American took down powerhouse Bucknell, Feinstein et al need some new Patriot League torchbearer for the week.

I did my year abroad at Holy Cross (before I transferred to Gtown). The basketball team there, while occasionally coming close to an NCAA upset is a mockery. It's started to turn around a little but c'mon... not even close to a top 25 team.
Their last good player was Bob Cousy!!!!!

Gotta stick up for the Cross here. Clearly, the team is not top 25 worthy, not as good as Georgetown and should not be getting votes in these polls. But the program is not a "mockery." For the level at which the school has chosen to compete, it's actually a very strong program. Willard has done some great things - don't forget that the Crusaders have been to three NCAA Tourneys since the Hoyas last went dancing.
They scared Kansas and Marquette in those school's final four seasons. Who knows? Maybe this is the year they pull off a first round upset.

The polls mean absolutely nothing. This isn't college football. Who cares.

They coudn't get anyone to walk the 100 yards from the dorms to the Hart Center. While yes, they have won the Patriot League a few times lately, they don't have a solid program by any means.

The polls mean absolutely nothing. This isn't college football. Who cares. I agree you need to take them with a grain of salt, but they are important. Being in the top 25 gets you a lot more name recognition with recruits. Your scores get shown during the regular rotation of scores on all the networks, and your coaches can tell recruits that they'll be coming to a top 25 school. It doesn't matter for the NCAA's, but I think to some degree it affects recruiting.

Holy Cross isn't trying to win the NCAA Tournament. The team matches or exceeds its goals on a nearly annual basis under Willard. Sorry you didn't enjoy your time there, but you might want to spit out the sour grapes.

Way more important is that Holy Cross covered in all three of those first round matchups. I will never be accused of biting the hand that feeds, so as long as they keep covering, I gotta stick up for Holy Cross. They are legit. For the record though, they should not be getting votes.

The polls mean absolutely nothing. This isn't college football. Who cares. (15) Pittsburgh (Beat um’ 67-64), and they lost to St. Johns 62-65 (20) Connecticut lost to Notre Dame by 4 (We beat ND) (24) Maryland lost to Clemson by 15 (We beat Clemson by 15) (25) Villanova (beat um’) not to mention the last teams to get votes.... These polls are not worth a lick!
