If we had won a squeaker then I might argue with this
But no top 5 team should be completely blown out of their own building

Price, in a post-game radio interview, basically said (paraphrasing of course) that the Hoyas kept the ball out of his hands after he hit those early threes.

I admit when I saw Price hit those two early jumpers that I thought he was going to go off for a big day. But he was quiet after that. Our perimeter defense did a great job keeping him in check.

Uconn isn't overrated. They have tons of talent. We're just underrated, by the media, by other teams and by our own fanbase. I agree with the poster who said Calhoun needs to give the ball to Walker. He's they're best point guard by far. He needs to insert him into the lineup, slide Price to the two, Dyson to the three and bring Austrie off the bench. He's done this before when Al-Amin was a freshman and he benched an upperclassman in Rashmael Jones. So I know he's experienced in cutting a seniors throat for a freshman. It was warranted then, it's warranted now. I think its a little bit of both, Uconn being overrated and Gtown being underrated. As we saw in the pre-game thread many thought we had very little chance to win this game and probably no chance to control the game the way we did. People expected, for reasons unknown to me, that Uconn would actually play together and to their full potential for the first time in three years. The fact is Uconn hasn't displayed the chemistry or "heart" that is needed for us to go in there with such low expectations. Yes, they are talented( though I have always questioned how talented they are), but it takes a lot more than talent to be considered a great team. They may infact be the second best team in the nation, but only because everyone else in the country is so down. Now on the the other end, I think many have been underrating Gtown. We develop our bench a little more ( I think they are further along than most believe) and we could be special. Looking at the returning players its impossible to determain who is the most improved. Freeman is almost automatic in the paint now, Wright has made monumental stride in decision making and control, Summers has improved in every single area of the game, and even Sapp has improved, though his scoring has gone now because of our big 4. Thats not even mention Wattad who has also made major improvements. Also I don't think people are giving enough credit to Wright for his defense yesterday. Not only did he make Price disappear while he was in, he also deflected and tipped every single ball that either lead to a steal for us or a turnover for them. He was just great on defense yesterday.

Sleepy you made a GREAT point that nobody is talking about.
For the first time since, really, the JTII years, we create turnovers. We created a ton of them last night. Chris's steal on Robinson, after he had turned the ball over on the other end, was a thing of beauty. We stripped Edwards of the ball when he had an uncontested lay-up. I don't know how many deflections we had, and generally pesky things we've done this season.
It's something that hasn't been talked about, but it's a major upgrade from the past few teams. We've played the same solid defense, and created turnovers and turned them into points without gambling. We also kept UCONN's guards out of the lane. If we can do the same against Pitt, we have a shot. But I love that facet of our team, the fact that we can now create turnovers and convert them into points.

I know, every time during the games the past few years they show other teams turnovers and points off of turnovers and usually we have 0-6 points on points off of turnovers at the half, with the other team having very few turnovers. Yesterday we had 26 points off of 18 Uconn turnovers. I'm still not used to being the team that forces the the turnovers AND capatilizes on them.

Really, this is the first year that III's had what he's truely envisioned for his offense. A great bigman who can facilitate the offense. A great point guard and a power forward who can shoot and take people off the dribble. It'll be a while before everyone wakes up and realizes this isn't the same slow it down type team we've been the past few years. Hairston's going to regret not coming here. He may well turn into a great player for Duke, but in this system he would've left a lottery pick.

If we had won a squeaker then I might argue with this But no top 5 team should be completely blown out of their own building Meh, it can happen. We caught them completely off guard. We played a matchup style zone, and we just took it to them. You can also think of it as, "well, UConn was due to lose sometime." I bet UNC has a clunker one time this year. You are probably right that it doesnt usually happen at home, but I still think UConn is a top 5-10 team.
