He had a poor game against BC but he still managed 5 pts, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. That combined with his 21 and 9 performance could still be good enough for Rookie of the Week.
Rudy Gay had a solid day today but he had like 2 pts and 0 rebounds earlier in the week.
Ollie bailey had one good game, but the other was rather weak I think.
Sean Williams didn't do much.
Justin Cerasoli didn't have any big games.
Any freshmen that I dnt know about have a strong week?
Jeff's monster performance against St. John's and his 5 pts, 5 boards and 7 assists could be enough.

Gay looked awesome today against the Irish (admittedly bc Colin Falls couldnt guard my little sister) and the game was on national TV.
He'll be the ROW.

With a 2 pt 0 rebound performance earlier in the week? He did have a good game on national TV today but it wasn't as good as Jeff's game against St. John's and so far they have been pretty good at looking at these things rationally rather than by hype. His earlier game was just too horrible in my opinion.

Yeah, if Jeff dosent get ROW its because the people voting dont want their predictions for Gay to be ROY to fail too miserably.

The question is WILL he be ROW. I think it'll be Gay.
If the question was SHOULD he be ROW, then I'd say yes he should.

Looks like Green is the Rookie of the Week. Check out Bigeast.org. Allan Ray is the player of the week.
I think Green is pretty much a lock at this point for Rookie of the year, barring a serious downturn in his game. That being said, I would rather win out then have him win this award, I think we all would.

I don't think Green deserves Rookie of the Week after his performance against BC. But I think he has clearly been Rookie of the Year so far.

I don't think Green deserves Rookie of the Week after his performance against BC. Maybe not, but as the week went, he didn't have a ton of competition.

I don't think Green deserves Rookie of the Week after his performance against BC. But I think he has clearly been Rookie of the Year so far. It looks to me like Green getting the honors was more a result of no other rookie putting together two solid games either. Definitely agree that Green was below the high standard that he/we have set for him this season in the BC game, but nonetheless when you consider the stats that Gay put up (a solid game against ND, offset by a not-so-great performance vs. West Viriginia), I think Jeff's week was better.

I think Jeff definitely deserved it. He had a huge game against St. John's and although his game against BC was less than what we expect of him in terms of points and rebounding he still had 7 assists. That is pretty damn impressive in my opinion and I remember being amazed by some of them during the game. His down game was still much better than most freshman ever play, and his game against SJU was just dominant.

From what I've seen thus far in the ROW selections, it's (almost) purely statistical. I've been pretty good at guessing whether or not a Hoya (Men's & Women's) will get the award these past few weeks.
Rookie of the Week is an award for Jeff to lose, by that I mean that he's a lock to get it every week unless he's really off. Check the stats of the other winners, Jeff's average is normally higher than their "break out" games and like we've said before, no other team in the BE relies on freshmen (rightfully so) the way we do.

Don't look at five points and be surprised.
Consider that in a game where Georgetown had a lot of trouble on offense, and only had 9 assists, a rookie powerforward had 7 of them.
THAT helps explain why he got it. Plus everyone else had a lousy week.

This just in, in a new category, Jeff's mom has won the initial Big East Rookie Mother of the Week. She is the odds-on choice to win Mom of the Year. ;D
