'Cause I know you've all been waiting for this: sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology#5 seed in West, playing Siena and Purdue/MTSU in Boise. 9 BE teams in, with Providence just missing out. UMCP also on the outside looking in. SEVEN teams from the Big 12! I have a feeling this may change a little over the coming months.

When asked about what he thought the Hoyas were going to do this year:
"Joe Lunardi: (4:20 PM ET ) Bad news: The Hoyas may not be much better than a middle of the pack Big East team. Good news: This season, that should be plenty good enough for an NCAA bid and a win or two in the big dance."

He also said this, which i like:
Dave (Columbus, OH: Do you think Duke has enough to win it all this year? They seem to be more athletic than the last few years.
Joe Lunardi: (4:42 PM ET ) Dave, I'm not even convinced Duke is the second-best team in the ACC.

The ACC isn't going to be UNC and Duke and everyone else.
I think it is going to recover a bit -- UNC will be tops, but Miami and others will be just as good as Duke.

Look, for all crap we give Dook on here, they are pretty talented and will probably win 25-28 games this year. Based on that, i think they finish second in the ACC. However, that doesn't mean they're as good as their record. It just means between Coach K's berating the refs and all the other advantages the program has built up, it's hard for Dook to have an off season when they have decent talent.

I feel like, with middle of the pack Big East with the bracket we're facing (and with the level of play I hope we're at by then), we should be better than a win or two, and I feel like Elite 8 would be well within our reach if we got this pick

I can't believe duke is preseason #5. Other than Henderson, and maybe some of the freshman, they don't have great athletes. I saw them lose to WVU last year in person, and as Joe Alexander stated after the game, playing Duke was easy after going through a big east schedule.

Also, I would take a 5 seed, to be honest i would be ecstatic with a five.

I agree. i saw that game in person as well as the duke-belmont game. duke should have lost the belmont game because of poor officiating (that is not just me claiming that, that game had documented instances of calls going for duke that were completely wrong). wvu was, though, help alot by the crowd who never wanted duke to score even one point.

I was at those games as well. Duke definitely benefitted from some ridiculous calls (I'm sure we're all shocked), and unfortunately I wasn't even remotely drunk so I can say that with confidence :-) . Belmont should have won that game no question.

Alexander was just so matter of fact about how Duke was nothing special compared to Big East teams they played all season..

They'll get a taste of the BE on Jan. 17th. I'm sure JTIII will have the team in sync by then. I'm expecting Clark to help out a lot with his defense and their outside shooting.

Did anyone see the cover of espn the magazine with Thabeet calling out Tyler. Nice work. He calls out Harangody, too. But Luke lit him up in their last outing against each other. Despite having an athletic 7'3" center, UConn's defense has been underwhelming, and Thabeet his hardly an offensive juggernaut. He's talks a lot for a guy who has never won a postseason game.

I want to beat Duke like nobody's business. I can't believe how overrated this team is with no post player of note. With an improved ACC, they won't win quite as many games as last year. Plus, a win in Cameron will ensure us additional bragging rights over MD even if we don't play them this year.

K will win a bunch of games cause the schedule is set up that way and to get a high seed in the tourney. All of their games will be on tv too. I mean the Presbyterian game was ESPN's first college hoops game of the year!
