I don't think it will make a huge difference for GU, but it won't hurt. It makes DC an even more exciting place to be as a college student. Any college student. This is where the best and brightest are coming once again, to be part of the Obama admin. Not just because he's the first black president, but because he is about new ideas and new energy at an absolutely critical point for our nation's future. Lots of Hoya Hoopsters (e.g. Courtland Freeman, Ramel Ross) used GU connections to intern with govt. organizations. Michelle Obama and her brother are Princeton grads, as are JT3 and his wife. Craig Robinson played for Pete Carrill and was two time Ivy POY, and coached for Bill Carmody at NW. He is almost certainly (at least) acquainted with JT3. Obama is a big hoopster. It does not take much imagination to envision Obama becoming the next big Hoya fan. All of the above would surely make GU a much more attractive destination for some than Durham or Chapel Hill, for example.

Recruiting aside, I wonder if JT3 will invite him over for some run at McDonough. Obama has a tradition of shooting hoops and seems to do it almost weekly.
If he wants to make some DC issues part of his agenda, perhaps he could do well to reach out to local high schools in the same way.

semi-related i have been wondering if JTIII did anything with the team about the election. like taking them to vote (if they wanted to and for who they wanted to of course) or anything like that.

At the open practice on Friday I asked coach if he was going to use his Princeton connections to get the first family to a game or two and he replied (confidently) that he didn't need his Princeton connections to do that :-)

I remember when Obama spoke on campus a couple years ago, most of the basketball team was there.

Ok, so no surprise that Craig Robinson and JT3 are Tiger pals. Letting OSU practice at GU? Great! JT3 can also give him a scouting report on Howard, and undoubtedly add some useful comments after watching the Beavers run through their sets -- Much as Pops and Pete do for JT3.
And given all the edited that Obama is inheriting as our new president, getting out of the (white) house to relax and catch a Hoya game or two..... priceless!
