There is an interesting story that I have been following on the Villanova board from our game against them. Apparently a couple students were heckling JT III and they were thrown out of the Pavilion. They are extremely upset about it because they claim all they were chanting was "Daddy" and nothing worse than that, so they shouldnt have been ejected. These two fans are die-hard seniors and they have now been banned from home games for the remainder of their senior year. It's a classic he said/she said deal with the students claiming they did nothing wrong and the admin claiming that they were extremely profane. I just think it's interesting and was wondering what you guys think about it. The moral of the story: Don't mess with JT III!!! villanova.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=1159&tid=47382941&sid=&style=2

Very disappointing...
Even though there were little children at the game, this is for the STUDENTS...the alums have had their chance to sit and cheer at the games...
Let these kids do the same...
We had something similar like this at A&T. The alumni didn't like the fact that the Dancing Girls danced so 'suggestively' at the football games during half-time. Because of the pressure from the alumni, the band got rid of the dancing girls. Now what's a half-time without 'Hoochy-Coochy' girls? They sure had to find out at A&T...
Alumni and parents have to realize that these activities aren't for them. It's for these kids.
As much as y'all pay for tuition, JTIII should check a few of you into the game this weekend...at least let you go through the lay-up line...
Even if they did drop the F-Bomb, as long as it wasn't directed at an official or anyone on the floor, Who cares?
The student section is supposed to be rowdy...If you don't want to hear cursing and see college students act like 'college students', take your azz to the other side of the gym...
As long as these guys weren't threatening anyone, I don't have a problem with it...

I wonder what they could have said.... I usually side with the students because I do think the games are essentually for them. They got an extremely stiff punishment and I don't think there was much they could say that deserved that kind of reaction.
At any rate, it is just a he said, she said deal and unfortunatly the students will almost always lose.
Go Hoyas!

i was within 15 feet of them all game. as were the GU players. im quite sure the GU players on the bench, and JTIII and staff, and the GU parents/friends sitting behind the GU bench were not too pleased with being subjected to these guys.
after all while, it all got very old.
they wanted the attention. they got it. they were warned and warned again...
if u cant do the time kiddies.....

They were warned? Well, that's something big left out of the story.
I may sound like an old guy, but I really don't understand why someone needs to be profane/a jerk to be a fan. Fun joking with no profanity is fine. And an outburst is okay, too, as no one is perfect.
But to continually be warned? You go to the game on their terms, and those are the terms you play by.
I think it is obvious these guys were trashed and lost control. They probably got what they were warned about. As the above says, you do the crime, do the time.
As an aside, I'd like someone to explain to me why it is right to shout something at or about someone that you would never do to their face, or if you were acquainted with them.

I think everything is pretty much alright as long as you aren't threatening people and getting too nasty, like repeatedly dropping the F-Bomb directly at someone.

I agree 2007, but I think the fact that they were warned changes everything. Even if what they were saying was not too vulger, if they were asked to stop multiple times, I have trouble feeling too sorry for them.
Either way it is unfortunate that it had to end the way it did.
Go Hoyas!

they were that too, in my observation.
trust me, it was over the top nasty. especially to our players who dont deserve that kind of harassment. it was uncalled for, as i suggested. but that's ok, we all grow up eventually.
p.s. the punishment was indeed unduly harsh. imo tossing them for that day til their buzzes wore off and the hoyas were back on the bus was all that was necessary
but hey, let them hire a lawyer!!!lol

I think I may be getting old but I'm all for tossing drunk idiots who are screaming the f bomb all game. First, there's really no need to be trashed at a game. Second, there's really no need to curse to heckle well. Finally, when someone's really drunk and swearing, you worry more about what else they might do than what they are actually saying. I wish more drunks would be ejected. Particularly if they are rooting for the other team.

Amen!
I sit low behind the opponent’s bench during the games, and of course I heckle and comment. However, I always try to be clever and witty about it. Cursing and the like, is just bad form, and reflects poorly on us.
I really don't see very many drunks, but I agree that when they get rowdy, out they should go.

1. The best heckling is never includes profanity, you get far more clever if you don't swear.
2. Drunk fans scare people.
3. Post Ron Artest, I don't care if the fans were yelling "Daddy" if security warned them and they didn't stop, they deserve whatever punishment they got. If you don't like what security is saying, take it up with them after the game. Continuing to do something that security has told you to stop doing is the hallmark of stupidity, and I always like when bad things happen to stupid people.

So true!
There is nothing more gratifying then when, after a clever little heckle, a player(s), refs, and or coach on the opposing team gives you a look or glare.
You know, that for just a second, their mind was on you and not the game. That is pleasure! For just that moment you get to be the 6th man on the floor. Hahaha, I know it sounds crazy, but it is true for me.
I have found that when, for whatever reason, I have had to sit up in the center section (row K-ish), I know they cannot hear me. I only cheer, and rarely heckle.
Anyway...rambling on I am...just waiting for tonight. hehehe

As a 'Nova diehard, I can't disagree. It turns out to be a he-said/he-said thing, and from what the folks on our board were saying "Cut 'em some slack" vs. "Obnoxious creeps need to learn their lessons," I tend to side with the concept of asking 'em to calm it down. I can live with an f-bomb here and there, particularly if a certain white-haired, red-faced official is wearing the striped shirt , and in truth, even at my less-than youthful status, I have been known to bay at the moon occasionally. But I agree that there have to be some minimum standards. Our crowd's getting back into the game more and more -- the K.U. and Notre Dame games in South Philly featured powerhouse support and very one-sided reactions. But conduct is always a concern. There are some interesting things I see at college games here in Big 10 country, like when a player fouls out, the students mark off his walk back to the bench militarily...left, right, left, right, etc., punctuated with a "SIDDOWN!" when he takes his seat. But it quickly is attaining the "AIRRRRRBALLLLLL" status as a time-warn chant. Good sportsmanship and playful jabs at the opponents are a good thing, but truly boorish, threatening behavior insults not only the kid practicing it, but also his school and the league in general. Good luck to you guys except when we visit, by the way. Forget the B.C. aberration, J.T.3 is puttin' it together for you guys. It's good for the league. And I for one wouldn't register a peep of protest if many of the next years' league races featured Georgetown and the 'Cats! Buckeye70

South Carolina had the same thing happen within the past couple of weeks... dance team members were quoted in The Gamecock saying they couldn't dance at games anymore because alums said they were being "too suggestive." The counter-spin on it by the University the next day in the Columbia paper was that they were just being asked to not dance during timeouts anymore because there was too much traffic on the floor during breaks in the action.
