Okay! Here's the deal... I've made a few shameful last minute efforts (along with a couple other posters) to get a nice NYC crowd together to watch some games this season.
In years past, even when we haven't been any good, there seems to have been more momentum to get a group together. In fact, over the last two years, when I was in Boston/Cambridge, we were able to get 10-20 people congregated on multiple occasions.
However, this year, to watch both the @pitt and St. John's game, we've only managed to bring together 5 or so people. This was mostly due to poor last minute planning, but also because these games fell on weekdays, but come on, we can do MUCH better.
Well - no more excuses this time! We have over 24 hours to plan this, and the game is on a Saturday night. Not only is it against one of only two remaining undefeated teams in the country, but it's against BC, the #1 BE traitor!
For those of you who remember the great showing we had a few years ago during the BET and NIT (Sweetney's last year) at Cafe 31, I am confident that there are many Hoya fans out there dying to get together with other diehards and root our Hoyas on to a HUGE UPSET victory.
One thing to consider is that the game is on a Saturday night, so in order to get a bar to dedicate a table, a large screen (and sound/volume!) we need to get more than 5 people together. I definitely know 5-10 people myself (some not regular board members) who I'm trying to round up, but let's make this a legitimate group effort. I know some of you NYC Hoyas are fond of going to the Park Avenue Country Club, so let's get you guys merged with the rest of us. In fact, if it makes sense, perhaps the Park Ave CC is a good choice.
Let's get some ideas flowing and come up with a real gameplan for Saturday night. The last two get-together's I was at were at "Ship of Fools" (Upper East Side) and at the "Joshua Tree" (Midtown East). Also, the Back Page is a good choice (Upper East Side), as well as several other locations. The Joshua Tree had a table of 20 set aside, but we lost some major street credit when only a few people showed up, so if we ask them again, we better redeem ourselves.
Anyways, let's get some momentum going, and brainstorm on this thread. The ideal plan would involve meeting up at like 6pm or so for some pre-gaming. Let's get the juices flowing early for the BIG WIN that will thrust Georgetown back on to the National scene and into all basketball fans' consciousness!
Thoughts? Input. Action Items. Gameplan?
LET'S GO HOYAS!!! SPANK BC!
