just so you know ... Markel Starks was named MVP of the junior game ... 12 pts 6 assists ... ;D .... Roscoe also had a nice showing with 19pts and 6 blocks ... their team won by the score of 89-81 .. I believe .. you can find a write-up about it on CapitolHoops.Com
here's a small piece of it and a link to the highlights:
The most entertaining game of the day goes to the junior class of 2010 , hats off to both the DC and Philly squad for putting on a classic. In the end it would be the DC team who would get the last laugh winning 89-81. Markel Starks , who has committed to Georgetown University ran the show displaying tremendous open court playmaking skills and earning the game MVP. Starks is the kind of guard you love to play with , he is lighting quick and just seems to make getting his teammates the ball almost effortless finishing with 12pts and 6assts.

Thanks Krukster
It seems like we got a total stud with Markel Starks. If Roscoe likes playing with him, our potential tandem of Starks/Smith could well be preferable to Thornton/Hairston.

Wow, congrats to Starks!!!
Roscoe, wouldn't you like to play with Markel at GU? He'll make you look great.

Yea ... if you watch the highlights .. you can see Markel #9 has the speed of a cat and a great handle to go with it ... he's not afraid to take it to the tin at all and has a mean pull-up jumper ... I think we're fortunate to get him early and I'm beyond excited he'll be a Hoya .. as far as #7 - Roscoe that is .. wow the potential is sick and I'd love to have him at the Hilltop .. but the problem is so does every college in the world .. lol ... I just want JTIII/staff to stay in the mix .. I believe we have as good a chance as anyone else and GU also has alot to offer ... If we could land Mr. Smith ... I'd forget all about the other player you mentioned .. Starks is a stud and possibly the best guard from that area for the 2010 class. It should be interesting to see how things heat up for Roscoe ... but I have faith in the staff.

Starks looked pretty good. had some really nice dishes down low. he did though get beat a couple times off the dribble and got scored over. what is he defense like for those that have seen him? also that put back by #4 for philly was sick.

The Travis best comparison is good one from watching that vid. Best had a yo-yo handle and so does Starks. Also, Roscoe's block on that 2-handed dunk was sick! Need to get that kid.

Yeah.... I was watching that big guy rise so slowly, like he was the only one on the court. Roscoe had him in his sights the entire time.
I did like those highlights. We need to get him here!

To steal a word from lic....wowowowowowowowowowowowowowow. did i get that right?
I now see why everyone is raving about this class....each kid looked more athletic than the next. From what I saw I moved Markel's game. Fast and strong. Love the way he can take a hit and still finish.

Congrats to Markel, Roscoe, and coach Stevens. Balla, Do you have a feel for when Roscoe might be making a commitment and a sense of our chances? Would it be him or Odum or Jones? Not more than one of those? Also, what's up with Jason Morris?

You're right. I had my teams mixed up at first. #7 on the DC squad (black jerseys) was Roscoe. #9 was Starks. Nice.

I loved the holy hip hop too. In the style the kids love, while still bringing that message. Great change from what I hear at most HS games. I know it was the video, but still...Oh yeah, Markel and Roscoe are the truth.

Markel controlled the play when he was in the game. The highlights do know show what he fully did. On the flip side josh selby played below his normal level. He is clearly athletically gifted but he did not look good on this particular day despite the break away dunks. Byron allen was number 1 if I remember correctly. He played well. Should be the 6th man at oak hill this year. can't remember the kids by nymber without reviewing the tape. Roscoe showed a lot fo activity on the boards and on defense. finished well on put backs. NOt nearly as polished as he will be with a few more years. But I can see why he projects so highly.

ok .. so let me get this straight .. DMV started with a line-up of:
#6 - ? #1 - Byron Allen #2 - Will Barton (I think) #3 - Josh Selby #7 - Roscoe Smith
bench:
#9 - Markel Starks #8 - ? #4 - ? #5 - ? #0 - ?
with players : Victor Olapido .... Jordan Latham ..... Erick Adkins .... Jerian Grant and Dante Holmes
