I could care less how the Republicans spend their money - I spend some of their money by gratuitously clicking on McCain banner ads every time I see one. The "Imelda Palin" / "Clothes Moose" narrative doesn't help her declining favorables / increasing negatives though.

Agree with Bando. You sometimes gotta spend big money to appeal to a wide group of individuals. Gov. Palin's clothes look nice, and I'm sure her campaign staff make these decisions, not her. It's a lot of money, but whatever, national politics. I'm sure Michelle Obama's clothes cost a lot too.

But it does appear to be inconsistent with the constant refrain we hear about small town values and wisdom of Wasila and Joe Sixpack, Hockey mom's and the rest vs. the east coast elites.

And Obama has spent $21.5 Million on polling.

And Obama has spent $21.5 Million on polling. Real Americans simply head on down the Piggly Wiggly and see what Joe Bob and Darryl think.

You might not be so sanguine about $150K for Palin's wardrobe if you were a GOP Congressman in a tight race who could have funded about a week's worth of local TV/Radio ads with that kind of cash.
Of course obtaining personal goods, like clothing, from campaign funds is also a violation of campaign finance law, but apparently they are now saying it will all be donated to charity after the campaign.

If he wanted the money he should have worked harder for it. I really hope that your hypothetical GOP Congressman would have the stones to tell the party that its wealth needs to be spread around more.

isn't the whole theory of supply side economics and the bush tax cuts a way of 'spreading the wealth?'
