Say this for Palin: She did better than the Cubs tonight. WTF - their fielders are treating the ball like it's a virus

Boring debate, probably a wash - Biden did well, Palin met the bar and went over it.
Here's why it's not going to change things much - the bailout is going to wipe this debate off the page tomorrow. The debate isn't going to get a full day's news cycle, because all eyes are going to be on the market and the House Republicans.

WTF - their fielders are treating the ball like it's a virus I hear the norovirus can be transmitted by contact with horsehide, so they are probably smart. Palin certainly exceeded expectations. True, they could not have been lower, but she was ok. Biden was better. Neither was great, and so we march on.

But I wanted to ask a question. This is not a slam on Biden, even though he said it. Biden had a very good debate. And everybody says it. Well, everybody but Pat Buchanan who thinks Palin wiped the floor with him. Palin did well - she stuck to her game plan and executed. I'm not sure if that's enough to say that she "won" though.

I think with all the "Maverick" stuff, the only way to decide this is with a 2 on 2 game of beach volleyball. Either that or Kenny Loggins moderates the next debate.

Let's see 4 total, that's 3 there, 2 more, and the last one = 6. Six possible different civil unions in that scene.

Two things:
1. Sorry Boz, but Sarah Palin is only hot in that Olympic gymnast sort of way. As in, not really hot, just better looking than most of the competition.
2. James Garner really needs to sue McCain. We all know who the original Maverick was.

I was so glad to hear that Governor Palin agrees with the Obama campaign about equal treatment of same sex couples to heterosexual couples while keeping marriage between a man and a woman. However, I'm sure "the base" was not pleased with this answer (That includes a particular homophobic Hoyatalker).

However, I'm sure "the base" was not pleased with this answer (That includes a particular homophobic Hoyatalker). That stood out to me, especially from a Rovian campaign. I was surprised that she did not have the "correct" talking point down on that. It takes that issue off the table, which is not helpful to the Republican ticket. Early polling confirms that Biden won the debate overall and among undecideds.

Who's early polling? CNNs? They've basically admitted tonight that their polls skew Democrat.
By the same token I could say Palin won by a huge margin....according to the Fox poll anyway. And all of their undecideds that Frank Luntz interviewed said Palin won.
There is no real early polling at this point.
And she IS a hottie. I don't care what anyone says. ;D

Time Magazine has a collection of polls at this link: thepage.time.com/2008/10/02/debate-polls-biden-wins/To the extent the debate was a tie, it is not helpful to the McCain campaign.

Palin did much better than many feared after the Katie Couric interviews. So at least she stopped the "dump her" talk.
But Biden was much sharper on all the issues. And I was delighted to see someone finally call him out McCain/Palin on the "Maverick" reputation. Next I'd like to hear someone ask how being in a prison cell for 5 years makes him any more qualified to win a war than anyone else.
I don't think this debate will end up making any difference, but at least Palin avoided blowing the entire election for McCain tonight.

Well, it seems you all watched it and I guess I am the only one who didn't. I mean, I tuned in occasionally, but for me, listening to Palin speak is like listening to Bush speak. The cringe factor is off the charts. I just can't do it. Too much agita.

1) yeah listening to her speak and imagining having to listen to her for 4+ years is very cringe worthy.
2) Not embarrassing yourself is not equal to winning.
3) loved when she said John McCain needed to leave i mean lead the country.

Did anyone else watching CNN notice when Rollins gave Palin like +6 all at one time on his stupid pie-chart graphic thing? It was like Around the Horn. I was expecting Tony Reali to mute Sarah Palin and give the game to Woody Page.

I'm surprised nobody here has mentioned Biden's emotional moment. The cynical side of me says that had to be staged, but it looked pretty genuine to me.

I was expecting Tony Reali to mute Sarah Palin and give the game to Woody Page. Given all the distracting graphics, why were so many people watching CNN? I mean this thing was on all the major broadcast networks and PBS too.

This thread is a clear example of what has come to be called the snobbish, elite East Coast elite. Just review how many on this board took issue with Sarah Palin's use of language they do not recognize. Look at comments by Buffalo, Jack, Boz, SF, Bando, Giga, Ambassador and Stig, all poking fun at her language.
