Hifi should be banned for just saying "butt buddies" That is offensive. The perfered term is rump raiders.
How is debating ignoring the problem? Not debating or talking about problems is what causes other problems. I like to hear all sides of an arguement before coming to a conclusion.

Golly, the back-slapping among you liberal butt buddies is getting ridiculous. Oops, sorry .. let me rephrase that ... among you liberal pals is ridiculous. If you think that going ahead with campainging and the debates and ignoring such an important discussion in Washington is a bad idea, then we agree to disagree. But the animosity which you exude over someone of an alternative opinion is downright embarrassing. your homophobia adds nothing to this discussion. You are not welcome here - although I appreciate that you aren't cutting and pasting your e-mails anymore.

StPete, take off your tinted goggles for a minute and give me an honest answer.
Look back at the earlier pages and see if you see a bunch of "yucking it up" with assorted back-slapping from those on the left. Then see if there is even an iota of reasoning for such celebratory words. I didn't think so.

If there's one thing that can bring HoyaTalk's liberal "butt buddies" and it's conservative gun-club together, it's dislike for HiFi. So in a way, he serves a purpose...like the aliens in Independence Day that brought the US, Israel, Iraq, and Russia all together to thwart the evil alien attempts to destroy the planet. It remains to be seen who among us has the technical knowledge to destroy HiFi's dial-up internet and who among us has the aviation skills to plant the virus in the alien mother ship.

That's my honest answer.

What they should do, in my opinion, anyway, is to go back to the original debate schedule and have the debate on the economy first. I'm pretty sure that was the plan, wasn't it?
I think if they did that, it would be worth postponing by a couple of days.
I know people have been saying, "well, this current crisis is a national security issue." OK, it's not that I don't buy that, but I would rather the foreign policy debate focus on foreign policy, and the debate on the economy/domestic policy focus on that.
See? I can't multi-task either.

What exactly do you need to do to be banned around here? HiFi, you are quite possibly the stupidest person I have ever encountered in my entire life. Go die in a fire.

Banning speech, even remarkably stupid speech, is a dangerous precedent.

Do you know how many times I have been banned on this site -- dating back to the ProBoards -- for using language much less caustic and ire-inspiring than Hifi-dooshbag? The answer is several times.
This toolshed is not a Georgetown Hoyas fan or alum; rather, he is a repugnant tapeworm who apparently feeds off the attention of strangers and the incitement of controversy. He believes that evolution is a myth and that Obama was in the same frat as Osama.
This pathetic loser allegedly has a family, but spends most of his day posting on the message board of an institution that he has no affiliation with ... ... ... I wanted to pause so that people can reflect on how absolutely bankrupt this assbag's life is.
For some reason DFW gets some kind of demented pleasure from watching his antics...maybe they have the same baby mama.
He really, really needs to step in front of traffic and off himself.

Note to brasky: I think the mods are usually more intolerant of invective directed against other posters, rather than just plain invective.
I think the most recent bans are reflective of this. I can't remember the name (was it "eighties"?), but I don't think he was banned for racism, he was banned for directing threats at other members of the board.
My advice is to just ignore. Yes, it was easier when the "Click to Ignore" button worked. But really, I have no problem skipping over posts of those who I think are ignorant or hateful or whatever. Hifi is not the only one.

Brasky, there is a degree of irony in what you say, as you remain to this day the only poster on any board that I have ever clicked to ignore.
Getting back to the point:
"They (repubs) are grasping at straws." yuck-yuck-yuck
"They're down to a hail mary" hardy-har-har
"If Sarah Palin was a hail mary, this is the Stanford band play" yuck-yuck-yuck
"something or other about writing books" yeah, you tell 'em Jim Bob
"McCain's written more books" You too, Allie Mack
it was just sickening
Reminds me of the friggin valley girl nonsense from the 80's. Yeah, you're right. Gag me with a spoon.

I think this week's events bode very well for McCain. We all know now that if there's ever another crisis in the next eight years, President McCain would just need to tell the kids in Congress, "Don't make me come over there...." and before he's even finished taking off his leadership belt, they'll have done their homework, eaten their vegetables, bailed out the American financial sector, and cleaned their rooms.
If it weren't for McCain's threat to suspend his campaign, this deal would have easily dragged out for another week or two instead of being rushed through today and tomorrow.
Of course it's terrible news if you were looking forward to a bonfire of the vanities scenario, as some of us may have been.
