Just in case you haven't seen this by now... here it is: DICKIE V's PRESEASON TOP 40 sports.espn.go.com/espn/dickvitale/news/story?id=3544438Please do not cut-and-paste copywritten content in its entirety. A link (as above) and partial post will suffice.1. North Carolina. 2. Louisville. 3. Connecticut. 4. UCLA. 5. Texas. 6. Notre Dame. 7. Michigan State. 8. Gonzaga. 9. Duke. 10. Pittsburgh. 11. Purdue. 12. Marquette. 13. Memphis. 14. Tennessee. 15. Georgetown. Adding Greg Monroe up front will make this a team to keep an eye on in the rugged Big East. 16. Villanova. 17. Florida. 26. Syracuse. 28. West Virginia. The BE is stacked!!! IMHO... at #15, we are about where we should be. If anything, i think ND may be a little overrated and Syracuse perhaps a little underrated.

If my count is correct I think Dickie V has 11 Big East teams in the top 28.
Four Big East teams in the top 10.
wow.

I count 9 in the top 28. The same 9 that are going to make the big dance. Speaking of the big dance, I was thinking that if 9 BE teams make it, that automatically means that two BE teams could possibly meet in the round of 32. I seriously doubt that two teams from the same conference have ever played eachother in the 2nd round.

Louisville and Conn are deserving of their Dickie V ranking. I am not on the Notre Dame bandwagon at 6

It seems that that team has been exactly the same for four years and has never met expectations and a new coach (even a promoted assistant) wont help the cause (see arizona, 2008)

Louisville and Conn are deserving of their Dickie V ranking. I am not on the Notre Dame bandwagon at 6 Since ND was pretty successful last year and returns their core players, I can't argue too much about their pre-season ranking. I doubt seriously that they will be ranked as high to end the year. Neither will Marquette. But I know ND is definitely better than Duke. I still don't understand their preseason buzz. I can't wait until January 17! If we end the year ranked in the top Sixteen, I won't have too much cause for complaint. The BEast is bar none this year. No debate necessary.

I seriously doubt that two teams from the same conference have ever played eachother in the 2nd round. Two Big East teams would meet in the Sweet 16, not round of 32. Go here: sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketologyand look at the eventual Pitt/Nova game in the Midwest. The guideline for the selection committee had always been to keep conference rivals away from each other until the Elite 8. But now, the dominance of the Big East has forced them to loosen that rule.

Davidson as a 5 seed in that bracketology? HA! Looking at the final AP/USA Today rankings, thats what they should have been last year, not 10 (yes i am still bitter)

I think this will be a very, very good Marquette team who could very well make a major run in the tourney. They were an overtime away from getting to the Elite 8 last year and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they make it this year. Yes they have a new coach, but they will have plenty of leadership on the floor... which is what counts most. Their 3 best players are seniors in James, Wesley Mathews and Jerel McNeal. Lazar Hayward is also an upper classman and most of their bench is back. They lose Mbakwe which hurts their inside presence... but this team is no joke and will be very, very good.

I dont think that they will be a joke. They are very experienced as you say and on paper this team is very good, as it has been since mcneal and james have both been there, but i havent seen the team play like the elite team it could be. Maybe it was crean and this year it will all change. we'll see. You might be right. but right now i havent see anything from these players that shows me they are better than just top 25 (not that thats anything to be disappointed about) just not top 15 yet
