on the plus side we get first shot of the big east teams at taking down ND's home game winning streak! but that opening stretch is brutal!

This is the toughest schedule I ever remember playing. If we get out of the regular season with single digits in the loss column that should be considered a huge success.

When you consider the tourney in Orlando and the Memphis game on 12/13, the opening stretch in the Big East doesn't look as bad--they'll have seen teams as equal to UConn, Pitt and UND.
UConn will probably be in Hartford--it's on Christmas break.
UND is also going to be on vacation--they don't sell the students tickets for when school is out, so Hoyas catch a break.
The conference is going to brutal though.

Really tough start, we have a really good chance of opening conference play 0-3. Atleast when we play Uconn they won't have Robinson or Majok, atleast I don't think they will if they are both out for the first semester. If they win just one of their first three games they will be in good position for the rest of conference. Anyone going to revise their predictions now?

The nice thing is that as the standings tighten at the end of the season and we compete for positioning in the BET... you have to like our chances in 6 of our final 9 games:
Rutgers (W) Cinci (W) at Cuse (?) at USF (W) Marquette (?) Louisville (??) at Nova (W, I like our chances) at St. Johns (W) Depaul (W).

Tough one week/three game road stretch across the east coast and mid west - Sunday, Jan. 25 playing at Seton Hall, to Cincinnati on Wed 28th, up the road to Marquette the following Saturday 31st. At least it's Cinci and Seton Hall - Pitt/Notre Dame two days apart a tough combo.

As an out of town season ticket holder I am bummed not to have Cuse on a weekend, but that Marquette/Louisville Sat-Mon homestand just might tempt me to make it a long weekend- too bad it is not a week earlier (Pres. Day Weekend).

I'm bummed that the last game before BET is DePaul. Louisville and then the BET was a great week last year. Not sure if I'm going to take the whole week off this year.

We are going to be tested early and we'll likely have some L's along the way, but if we can finish at .500 or slightly above in conference we will have an amazing RPI and Strength of Schedule and will be able to make a good argument to get into the NCAA tournament.

One thing I just noticed that neither of our Marquette matchups are nationally televised. Last season's matchup was such a snoozer that I can see why networks wouldn't want to show it

Players eligible for the 2nd semester will be playing by the time UCONN and G-Town meet up. As far as ahtletic eligibility goes, 2nd semester starts when first semester final exams are finished.

Calhoun could probably announce the grades on those finals right now.
