hey guys, i'm new here, so i may have missed a discussion about this, but what's up with the heavy edits of posts?
we're all adults, I think someone can take it if "" or, god forbid, "bastard" is used on here ... just never been on a board that's so puritanical ....

Hilarious picture. Otherwise, a pretty weak post. Our admins do a great job keeping things under control while still allowing us a great amount of freedom.

Michael,
Just consult the rules, no profanity. We'll tolerate light stuff but profanity isn't necessary to get your point across...
BTW, love your picture. It says, "I'm willfully ignorant and proud to display so!"

Agree with WBH.
We'll edit profanity if it goes over the line and especially if it is used to describe / attack / provoke another poster or if it is directed at a GU staff member / player.
Sometimes it's a judgement call but I'm comfortable erring on the side of an overcall if necessary. You buy in to a set of rules when you post here. I don't think we're very strict frankly.

The moderators on this board do a good job in keeping civility. I have been on boards, when this is totally missing, and as an older poster, I cringe at this kind of disrepect. Oh, oh, I better up my post rate or else Dan will pass me. ;D

Nothing that a string of indoor track results couldn't fix, Nevada!

Ok, A few things. First I think im a pretty smart guy but im confused by your picture Pittman. What exactly is the deal could you explain. Also, I have brought this up before and dont mean to be lame about it, but is there anyway that people can reduce the size of their pictures or icons when they post. I know someone said last night that it just makes it that size, but is there anything we can do about it, cause they take up so much space in each of these threads.

I know Inside Carolina banned pictures and signatures for these reasons. Of course, they have thousands of people on at one time. But I'm not sure their post traffic is much higher in season anymore.

THB, ;D (this reply is a cheap trick to pad my # of posts, or I could apply the lichoya68 method of multiple replies, but I will refrain from that )

I'm for banning in-thread pictures and footnote quotes. WHO'S WITH ME!? This is a call to arms.

Let me put it this way. Im for freedom of expression and the board being a forum for both pictures and quotes. But I would not complain if they were not attached to every single post that people out there. Maybe there could be a pictures and quotes thread where people could post their favorite ones or where posters could put a picture and or quote to be associated with their screen name and then those that were interested could go look what people put up and it would be a good way to get to know people and their interests etc. For example, i dont want to paste a picture with all of my posts, but I would definitely put one up that was funny in a separate thread for that. One more thought is, maybe someones first post in a thread could have their picture or quote but each one after would not have that so it would cut down on clutter when the point has already been made. Those are my ideas. harbin

I just don't see why the use of a picture (like mine of Glenn Robinson) with the screen name isn't enough. There's no need to add into the main body of the screen all kinds of other pictures as well. Is there?

Hello??? I was not referring to the discussion on profanity but rather the one about attached pictures, I did not see that discussed by the admin above. Sorry if I missed something, I didn't realize that trying to improve the flow of the board was a crime!

Sorry if I missed something, I didn't realize that trying to improve the flow of the board was a crime! Well - you didn't SAY that was what you wanted admins to respond to. I don't know that there is an "official" position on pictures in posts. It hasn't been much of a problem up until now, but you're right that large pictures in posts do cut up flow a bit. I'd be in favor of "discouraging" repeating the same pic over with each of your posts, but wouldn't want to ban ALL posts. How else would we get game photos here then?

A separate photos thread. Hoyas-related photos only. Note this would also avoid the occassional problem where somebody's photo vastly stretches the thread to the right, making it unreadable.
I'd rather have a "Hoyas photos" thread anyway so I can quickly locate that stuff when its time to update my desktop wallpaper.
Pictures of Donovan McNabb or absurdity from the Onion can go in the little screen name photo spot.

my idea is less related to game related pics in threads. If you read my posts on page 1 I go into some ideas for dealing with this issue. What I am more focused on and I dont think I am alone in this, is cutting down the size of some posters pictures. I think that they are great members of the board who have great insight, that I want to make clear, but I dont need to see the same picture of someone and their blue hair or donovan mcnabb holding the nfc trophy 50 times in one thread, it just takes up a lot of room when the point it made. So maybe people could have their picture in the first post they make to identify themselves and then take it out for the rest within any given thread. Or maybe they could just make their picture the size of Big Dogs as an example. PS : Sorry for sounding like a jerk in my last post, I just thought it was clear what I was referring to as I put my desire to hear from the admin right under a post about this subject.
