just wondering i saw that the md weak schedule thing was moved to college and pro sports and im not complaining but just wanna understand i know this site is supposed to be about gu bball and i assume thats why it was moved but i thought any real hoya fan would be interested in things like an arch rivals schedule local bragging rights past history of bb and t tourney,, gary vs. john etc etc and the fact that this year there is at least a possiblitly altho unlikely that we COULD play them in orlando just questions not really a big deal but wondered about the thinking go hoyas BEAT THE TWERPS WITH THEIR WEAK SCHEDULE ps some people put how good there schedule is but one no name team AND alot of this team is really usually good but last year was a downer boo hiss go hoyas LETS WIN THEM ONE BY ONE AND HAVE SOME FUN end of dissertation

i don't really understand it either. threads about other big east teams and rivals are about things impacting or relevant to georgetown basketball. just like the threads about roy, jeff and other former hoyas who are now in the pros which don't get moved out. the college board seems more appropriate for general griping about the ncaa or bashing tyler hans-broseph. just a small complaint, but i agree with lic.

I think the most appropriate response in this case would have to do w/ whether or not Maryland is a rival. I think there's plenty of hatred between the two schools (or rather, the two fan bases), but the fact of the matter is, we've only played a couple of times in the last fifteen years in basketball, and so it would be the equivalent of posting Siena's schedule when it's announced--another school who we might play in the Old Spice Classic, or we might not.

My take is that I probably care more about Siena than Maryland. They Terps/Perps are fun to dislike, and I suppose if you live it the area the "rivalry" is more important, but as a guy who hasn't lived in the DC area in a long time, I will glance at scores occasionally and chuckle if MD loses, but otherwise they never even enter my thoughts -- a formerly decent team now playing consistent NIT fodder in a weaker ACC? Big deal.

I say moving it off the board was probably the correct decision.

I totally concur. I think there should be more acceptance of these threads on the main board in August, but obviously it'll always come down to the discretion of the mods, who we all know are arbitrary and capricious.

I think the reason that thread was moved was pretty obvious.

This is the board for Georgetown Basketball.

The Admin has two choices: make this board for Georgetown Basketball only or make this board just completely open for all things sports related.

The only real grey area as I see it is when a thread relates to Jeff Green or any other former Hoya that played basketball here.

My advice? Check both boards to make sure you don't miss anything.

Moving that thread was not a value judgment on the topic. A placemarker with a link to the thread in the other forum was left so people could jump to it directly as well.

The general rule of thumb is that if the topic is directly about Hoya basketball, Big East teams, or upcoming opponents on the schedule, it stays in this forum. We generally leave former Hoya player threads here if that is the main topic of the thread. Other threads get moved to the Pro/College Sports forum, hifi's attempts to moderate the board notwithstanding. Sometimes it's a close call, but that's why us moderators make the big (read ZERO) bucks.
