Just as interesting are the heights and weights, and in one case, positions.
Greg is 6-foot-11 (maybe on the high side), 250 (certainly looks reasonable, though this is 20-30 pounds more than the recruiting services had him at). And listed as a center. Henry is 6-foot-10 (thought some had him 6-11; maybe I'm thinking of Shonte), 225. Also a center. Jason Clark is 6-foot-2 (which makes sense) and 176 (which means he could really be like 165 or 170).
Also, Nikita wore No. 10 last season and now wears No. 5. Looks like Greg wore No. 10 for Helen Cox.
Edited. Numbers are assigned by the staff.--Admin

Dissapointed none of our bigs are carrying on the traditional big man Numbers 33, 55, even 50 to an extent.
Also that has to be just a typo right? Right? I mean wasn't it questionable that even if he didn't play the rest of the year after the injury if he'd get a medical redshirt. How could he have possibly gotten a redshirt when he came back from the injury and played in the BET and NCAA. Would be nice but highly doubtful.

I assume that's a typo. I don't think they're doing the most thorough proof-reading over there as the captains are listed as: Tyler Crawford Patrick Ewing, Jr. Roy Hibbert Jonathan Wallace

I don't actually believe Greg compensated Nikita for the No. 10. I was merely alluding to what many pros do when joining a new team. That said, I'm not sure I believe numbers are assigned by the staff. That would mean (1) the story about Patrick Ewing Jr. having to ask Alonzo for No. 33 was pure fiction and (2) that the staff, without asking Nikita if he was willing to surrender his number or checking with Greg to see how important it was to him to have that number, decided to take No. 10 from Nikita and give it to Greg. I don't think it is beyond the realm of possibility to suggest Greg asked Nikita if he could wear his high school number.

It could also mean that Nikita wanted to wear #5 but Rivers had it last year--because Greg also wore #21 in AAU play in addition to his #10 in HS--but we know Jessie Sapp has 21 on lockdown.

Totally possible. Still casts doubt on the theory that the staff is the driving force behind who wears what number.

Jessie has a year more with 21 and should continue to do the number proud, but, like 33, we all know who it really belongs to Pre-edit in anticipation of a little flak: ... not that I'm saying they don't truly belong to the University - I'm kind of glad that we don't retire numbers.

I don't think it is beyond the realm of possibility to suggest Greg asked Nikita if he could wear his high school number. I think the story in (1) was a bit of fiction, or at least a tall tale. Mourning was not the last to wear #33, as Jahidi White wore it his junior year and I don't think alumni have any claim on a jersey number. As for (2), I suspect that freshman are assigned numbers and can request them to be changed at their sophomore year (In recent years, Cheikh Dia, Rhese Gibson, Kevin Braswell, Courtland Freeman, and Ashanti Cook all changed numbers after their freshman year. Braswell got #12 after Dean Berry graduated, Mescheriakov got #5 after Jeremiah Rivers left, etc.) And Patrick Ewing almost did, at least technically. Ewing wore #32 in high school but that was taken by Eric Smith, and a copy of the 1981-82 team photo clearly shows him wearing #55. But by the start of the season, he was #33.

I'm impressed that anyone knows that Rhese Gibson changed his number after freshman year.

I recall learning in '97 that Jahidi had had to obtain some kind of dispensation to wear the 33. He apparently wore it for his sophomore season only; perhaps Ewing and/or Zo revoked that authorization for the subsequent years? Not that 55 is anything to scoff at either....

Anyone notice Chris Wright is still listed as a Freshman? Everyone else is properly classified or reclassified according to class year. Just sayin'...... Maybe he failed last year and they held him back a grade.

I anxiously await yet another excuse from the mods why they won't ban hifi, even for the short-term, even though he willfully trolls this forum and flouts the posting rules ( #12 in this case).

I think Clark might be 176 if he's holding 2 ten pound weights.
