I prefer the Stephen King version of why you shouldn't use cell phones.
(I think that's the first time he took on the "zombie" motif; thought he did a pretty good job with it; Eli Roth is doing the movie, so I can expect to be sufficiently grossed out)

I think I'm going to take one thing from this Pitt doctor, though: unpublished data. As in, "I have unpublished data showing that not sleeping with me carries a 75% increased risk of uterine cancer in women."
Followed up by, of course, "To the bedroom!"

I remember the concerns tying cancer and phones a decade ago. I remember Rush Limbaugh making a point of how silly the fearmongering was so he did his entire show with a cellular phone strapped to his head. He said that it was calling one of those adult 900 lines. I don't know it that part was true or not. But literally it was ten or twelve years ago and someone was suggesting a link between cancer and cellular use. He pretty much dismissed it immediately. Now some dozen years later, some crackpot doctor is out there again trying to convince us of the same thing. Personally, I think he is just trying to have his 3 minutes of fame.

It's called publishing via press conference. Generally, a scientist won't announce his or her findings until after it's been published in a legitimate journal (the journals themselves have pretty strict rules about this). When a scientist (or usually "scientist") announces findings prior to publication, it usually means that no legitimate journal has published their shoddy data, and the report will appear in "The Journal My Friends and I Happened to Create Yesterday".
