Eric Smith and Fred Brown both had success at times in that role.

How are we ignoring Darrell Owens, the guy who allowed Brandon Bowman to shine as the greatest all-around Hoya in history?

I am by no means calling him the best 6th man (and maybe he wasn't even a 6th man), but I remember being pleasantly surprised with A. Perry when he started coming off the bench. Seem to remember his shot falling a little more, or maybe it was just that there were less expectations by that point.

I think to qualify they should have to have been the definitive 6th man and played the role for more than a year. Some one like pat who was clearly a 6th man his whole career. That's a pretty tough list criterion. College rosters change so much year to year, a guy staying as 6th man for more than one year? Not a lot of those.

Tough call between Gene and Patrick, but I'm going with the man for whom they created the award.

Tough call between Gene and Patrick, but I'm going with the man for whom they created the award. If it were a choice between Pat and Gene, I think it would be easy to pick Patrick. Gene was a superb defensive player and was brought in for exactly that purpose. Pat had a more rounded game and could contribute in more areas. But for me, Reggie still qualifies and wins.

I'm pretty sure he either won (or maybe finished second?) in the McDoonalds Slam Dunk contest. Not sure when or to where those hops disappeared.
