Does anyone know how the jerseys in McDonough are determined? I am assuming you have to be drafted. The follow up is will Roy be given a Raptors or Pacers jersey since it was a draft day trade and he was clearly selected by the Pacers. Just curious.

Jeff's rights were traded (from Boston) and he has his new team - Sonics - on the wall, I believe.

I think you're right that you get up there if you're drafted. I imagine it'll be a Pacers jersey for Roy, since it's a Sonics jersey for Jeff - even though he was actually drafted by the Celtics.

I guess you put Jeff's OKC jersey up when they finally name a mascot.

First, I'd just say McDonough is usually "McD" rather than "McD's", since it's not "McDonough's Gym". Small point.
As for the jerseys, I think they tend to just use common sense. Last year Jeff was drafted by the Celtics, but his jersey went up on the wall as a Sonic since he never played for the Celtics. Thus it's a safe bet that Roy's will go up as a Pacer.
The bigger thing that I was wondering about was whether being drafted gets you on the wall, or whether you have to make the team to get up there. Essentially I'm wondering whether or not Pat will need to make the team to get a jersey on the wall. I would think he'd have to make somebody's squad, but I'm not sure. Anyone have any insight?

after the way jeff's worked out I assume they'll use a pacers jersey for roy. That walls going to be come awfully full awfully quick. Question, what about pat jr? Will he be put on only if he makes the team?

I'd say it's the NBA team that signs you.

And like RB, I was looking forward to a post about a Hoya jersey promotion at McDonald's.

Why would Toronto even make a Hibbert jersey? There's going to be a new Pacer jersey up on the wall.
I wonder if you are drafted and play in the D-League or Europe for a year or two and then enter the league do you get on the wall? Not saying this is what's going to happen to Pat, but its not a completely unlikely scenerio for future players, like maybe Jessie

Yeah - he has to make the squad to get on the wall. Case in point, Ben Gillery. Never drafted, but played a season in the league. Interesting point though - even though he played in 88-89 w/the Kings, I don't think his jersey went up til 96 or 97. I could be mistaken though.

I think you're wrong. I graduated in '94, and I remember seeing his jersey on the wall.

Charles Smith also has a jersey up & was never drafted.
On a tangentially related note, I didn't get to Kenner this past weekend and I can't remember from previous summers, but does Rebekkah Brunson have a jersey on the wall?
If not, she probably should.
I know what we all think of the WNBA, but still.

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing--yes, it's great to show to recruits, but the pre-Thompson players are conspicuously absent.
(And no, I can't find any citation that Pete Michell made an ABA roster.)
