What will Elphaba do?
1. Run with Obama? No good. If he wins, she's locked out of the Oval Office until she's at least 70. If he loses, she's the losing VP candidate and thus tarred with defeat.
2. Support Obama (actually not lip service)? No good. If he wins she's locked out of the Oval Office until she's 70.
3. Sink Obama (with Plausible deniability)? That is her game. He loses, she gets to return and say "See, I told you he'd lose." Give it to me.
Barring Arkancide, Option 3 appears to be her only play if she wants to run for President before she's 70.

#3 is a very dangerous game, but if anyone is up to it, it's the Clintons. I think she will support Obama overtly, but I don't think she'll be out there vehemently campaigning for him in Ohio, Pa., WV, Ky., and the like. (But would anyone in the world be surprised if it turns out that the Republicans get some goods on Obama that are traced back to HillBilly?) Of course, there is Option 1a....run with Obama and spike his chili.

I strongly object to this characterization. Elphaba saw a corrupt system and took steps to change it. Hillary just wants to win.
Option #1 isn't an option. Hillary has no cards here. Moderates find her annoying. Obama's supporters can't stand her and will tear the campaign apart.
Option #3 is awful. Hillary's already annoying Democrats since she hasn't endorsed Obama. If she pulls something, it will lock her out on the Democratic side. Forever.
Option #2 seems best. Hillary supports Obama. If he loses, she waits for her supporters to say "I told you so" and the Obama wing of the Democratic party gets muzzled as McCain nominates another replacement on the Supreme Court. The Clintonesque, move towards the middle approach wins, and Hillary is the option in 2012 (this time, with a chastened Obama's blessing and him possibly as a VP). If Obama wins and does really bad, this scenario works, too. This time, Hillary's supporters can say "she knew when to quit" and pressure him out.

Option #4 - let Bill announce something and then later claim whichever option of 1 thru 3 seems appropriate at the time. Then deny it later. Or seem to deny it.

Obama and HRC are meeting at her home on Whitehaven. Obama's campaign plane left VA earlier today with the press and no Obama.
