For those interested, former Hoyas Wesley Wilson and Jameel Watkins are both playing in the Philippine Basketball Association as "imports". Apparently, Wilson, who has previously played in the league, is averaging a high double-double per game and is considered one of the best "imports" for the season.
The PBA has hosted former college b-ball and NBA journeymen over the years. Previous PBA imports include Keith Smart (Indiana) and Wes Matthews (Lakers).

Check out www.pba.com.ph. The current cover story reports that former Miami Hurricane (?), Darius Rice, scored 56 points in his last game. Not uncommon in this league. I think the record that was set in the late 80's is 115 points scored in one game. Yes - that's by one player.

My first night in the Philippines 3 years ago, i was wiped out from the flight and turned on the TV, and there was Wesley Wilson -- he scored 40 and was dominant, using hooks, short jumpers and dunks. Granted he was playing against undersized players, but it was still a bit maddening to see him use skills he should have been using a LOT more often as a Hoya. Nice to see he's back there, he had a bit of a following, as I recall.

The PBA is a great place to look for some of those nagging "Where are They now?" former college stars. One day in 2003 I was in the Phils and did a total doubletake upon hearing the name Harold Arceneaux on TV. "The Show" looked to have put on more than a few pounds since he and Weber State took down UNC in 99, but, he was still putting the ball in the hoop ALOT. He and former Blue Devil Ricky Price were both doing pretty well.
Good to hear that Wesley is still competing. Hopefully the 'personal issues' are well behind him and he can enjoy just playin ball.
