People just want to know what their money is spent on. Even a description like that -- and then detailing all the different types of expenses, etc., would help people understand.
A single sentence with examples isn't particularly descriptive when you are giving money. People like to know up front what it is for, and they also like to know afterwords how they helped. For instance, when the new floor was donated, the HHC made a big deal of that -- that makes people feel good about their donation.
I just know way too many people who watch basketball but aren't members. You can call them cheap, but those are the people the HHC should be figuring out how to reach. Frankly, as a donor, I'm probably the wrong person to talk to.

Quick update: We have raised $872.99 for the Hoya Hoop Club so far. If you haven't signed up yet, please send me a PM and we'll get you some free money to donate to the Hoop Club!

Wow, I'm glad this has really picked up. Let's keep it going! TBird, could we get a number of people who have donated $35 and a number of those who have donated for their posts?

We're still at $872.99. I just sent out a few more referrals, so if those people want to sign up and send me the $25 that'd be great. Sorry for letting this slowdown.
Also, if people still want to help out, please PM your email address. I'm still working on getting my bank account approved, so I can't send the money to the HHC yet. I'll keep people updated as to when I'll be making the donation, but my guess is NEXT FRIDAY
And for those of you who've signed up, PLEASE send me your $25 sign up bonus if you haven't!
Thanks everybody for helping out!

I tried to sign up, went through the whole process, and at the final screen I got a message saying that there was some sort of error, and to wait for an e-mail to resolve.
Awesome.
The best part is that although I've had no e-mail to try to fix the problem, they've started sending me unsolicited spammish stuff.
Sorry group, but I'm done with this.

Wonder what happened there, since I have received zero spam from them?!

Wonder what happened there, since I have received zero spam from them?! I'll clarify a little, spam may have been too harsh a term. They haven't sent me anything asking if I want to increase the size of my package (I do) or help out a Nigerian prince (I don't), but they've sent me e-mails telling me about their referral program, etc.

They haven't sent me anything asking if I want to increase the size of my package (I do) or help out a Nigerian prince (I don't), but they've sent me e-mails telling me about their referral program, etc. I had the same thing happen to me (the error, not the spam). Essentially they needed to confirm my actual address because I had selected that my current address was less than 1 year old (or something like that) when signing up. Call their help number and they should be able to get you setup correctly. All they wanted from me was a copy of a bill showing a current address. Strangely enough, before I even faxed them my electric bill the account started working, so it may take little more than a 2 minute phone call to get your account in order. Of course after that there is the 4+ day wait for them to confirm a link to your bank account, but at least we'll have the free $25 at that point.

Up to $907.99. I'm still waiting on my bank account being approved, so if you still want to sign up, or haven't transferred me your sign up bonus, please do so! It'd be nice to have a thousand bucks to donate on behalf of the Hoyatalk board!

Just sent over $35... Thanks guys! Which brings our total to $942.99. Thanks! I am all ready to make the donation to the Hoop Club, but I just wanted to give people one last chance to sign up and get a free $35 for the Hoop Club (and get us over $1000). If you haven't signed up, please send me a PM with your email address so we can get all this going. I'm going to be making the donation this evening or tomorrow morning, so everyone knows. Thanks!

Any verdict for the donation? If football parents can donate $37,000 we should at least hit one billion, maybe two.

I got the "can't confirm" error too, but never got an e-mail asking to clarify the problem.

Also, T-Bird, is there a certain deadline by which we must donate? How long can we keep this thing open? Obviously, the longer it goes the better chance there is that more people donate, and the better chance there is that the errors like hoyaboy's get worked out.

I didn't want to drag this out too long, mainly because I'm sitting on a decent amount of money. If there's anyone left who wants to donate via revolution money, please contact me. If I don't hear from anyone else, I'm just going to make the donation tomorrow morning.

The AD should have sent everyone that participated a thank you (they asked for all the emails). It ended up being about $950 donation, and it did not make me eligible for BET tickets.
