talk about lack of respect
"I will worry about Georgetown when we get by Gonzaga. But Georgetown is another of those teams who don't do that well on the road, barely beating WVA by one and Marquette by 2 in OT, losing to Memphis, Pittsburgh (twice), Louisville and even Syracuse. Even at home, they had close escapes against UConn (3 points), Syracuse (2 points in overtime), Villanova (2 points) and Louisville (3 points). A few breaks going the other way and they could have been playing in the NIT. In addition, 5 different teams, including Ball State and Rutgers, have held them under 60 points. In a way, I worry more about Gonzaga's 7'4" center than I do about Hibbert, who in one game, went wholly scoreless."
wow
p.s. The 7-4 center from Gonzaga this poster speaks of? Robert Sacre a 7-0, not 7-4, freshman who starts and plays five minutes per game

Most of those posters are reasonable - one is even morose about their chances - but that one guy is classic. I mean, you have to agree, Georgetown is practically an NIT team.

I realize their streak may have them riding pretty high - but if you put their schedule to the same scrutiny they are giving to ours you find the following:
Davidson's wins are over the following teams:
Emory, North Carolina Central, Appalachian State, The Citadel, Georgia Southern, Western Carolina, Elon, Wofford, Furman, Chattanooga, The College of Charelston, UNC Greensboro, and Winthrop.
Winthrop is clearly the best win on that schedule with a Kenpom rating of 109.
Since January, every team that Georgetown has played has had a better Kenpom rating than Winthrop - except St. Johns and Rutgers.
Yes, Davidson played three close games against good teams (UNC, Duke, and and UCLA) before December 8th. Moral victories in December do not make you a winner in March.
Davidson criticizing our schedule is hilarious.

I'm not feeling a ton of respect from any of the teams in our bracket, but nothing approaching Jared Dudley levels yet*
*Plus it would be hard for Pat to reverse dunk over the internet

Off topic but Creepy Crean was drinking Diet Coke, not Diet Pepsi, on Friday night.

Off topic but Creepy Crean was drinking Diet Coke, not Diet Pepsi, on Friday night. So I heard, but the damn Flu bench decided to stand the entire game so I really couldn't see much or else I would have been more excited

Thank you for that clarifying point on their schedule. Everyone keeps talking about their games against Duke, UNC, and UCLA, which have had me wondering -- "Did Davidson upset these guys?" They did not.
You know, a few years ago GU played close games against a number of top teams. Those moral victories didn't even get us into the tournament.
Thanks, I feel much better now. I hope we beat them by 50. Assuming we get to that point.

Although...for a long time last season I thought our team's official name was "Georgetown...who was the only team to give Florida a run during last year's tournament."

Off topic but Creepy Crean was drinking Diet Coke, not Diet Pepsi, on Friday night. I noticed that too, and was baffled, because he always drinks Diet Pepsi. Does MSG have an exclusive contract with Coca-cola that prevented Crean from bringing Diet Pepsi into the arena?

Here's another post from the same thread that's a lot more realistic:
"We dont match-up well with Georgetown. Who is going to stop Hibbert, Sapp, Summers, Wallace, Ewing, Freeman, Rivers, etc. We arent as talented, deep, or athletic as the Hoyas. We have a better chance against the 'Zags. I know we're tough on D, but the Hoyas are a Final 4 type team. Bottom line, any team we face will rough us up if Steph isnt on."

I responded in a non-antagonistic way I think. I'm interested in the teams we may be playing, so figured why not.

The phrase "held under 60 points" gives away this individual's basketball IQ... Last time I checked it depends on how the game is played as to whether someone "holds you under" a certain amount of points, especially when you win those games...

Yes, it's true, we barely beat West Virginia and Marquette on the road. Which of course, is nothing like beating Elon and Wofford. Hilarious.
