Wow. We're a 7 seed in the Syracuse bracket playing in Oklahoma City against #10....MARYLAND! We've got an up arrow, they've got a down. We're also "Underrated."
If anyone has insider and wants to post the Gtown/UMd blurb here, breaking a number of copyright laws, I would be most grateful.

oh what a match up this would be. it would truly show that the selection committee has a nice sense of humor.
i would kill to work gary in the tournament, when our freshmen studs show the entire dc area and the nation who is back on top.

Also, our BC game Saturday is tagged as a "Game to watch." The blurb is "More than a battle of the Jesuits."

From Insider:
7 Georgetown vs. 10 Maryland Oklahoma City Team Record (Conf.) RPI SOS Last 10 Georgetown 12-5 (4-2) 32 22 8-2 Maryland 11-5 (2-3) 46 46 7-3
Georgetown
John Thompson III would have to be on the short list for national Coach of the Year. Hoyas are actually a No. 6 seed on this week's S-Curve, as the overtime loss at Syracuse is better than most wins.
Why seeded here? Who is third-best team in Big East? Argument can be made for Hoyas (for now) above Pitt or UConn.
May change because: Could Georgetown suffer the West Virginia syndrome? We'll know at BC this coming weekend.
Good Wins RPI 1-25: None RPI 26-50: @ Villanova
Bad Losses RPI 101-200: N-Oral Roberts RPI 201+: None

Here is the write-up. I love the props to JTIII for National Coach of the year. Great stuff.

This is great too--
Big East: 7 projected bids ACC: 5 projected bids
And if this were next year-- Big East: 9 projected bids (add Louisville, Cincy, and Marquette and subtract BC) ACC: 6 projected bids (add BC)

Hmmm....the bracketology predictions are great...and let me preface this by saying I still think an NCAA bid for the Hoyas is a stretch (remember we are a few bad bounces away from being 1-5). That said, the laughable notion here is that Maryland comes anywher CLOSE to resembling an NCAA tourney team at this point.
They are 11-5 (2-3), with games remaining against: Duke (2x) GA Tech Clemson (2x) VA Tech (2x) Miami NC State UNC VA
Let's say they sweep Clemson and VA Tech, split go 2-2 against Miami, NC State, VA, and GA Tech, and go 0-3 against Duke and UNC, that puts them at 17-11 (8-8), likely with no wins (ok maybe one) against the RPI top 25. Granted, it's doable, but they would have to win one or two in the ACC tourney to get in, don't you think?
Gary Williams is too good a coach and this team has too much talent to not right the ship, but the problem is not just that they are losing. This team is barely competitive against decent teams right now. I don't know how you make an adjustment for that.
