Considering no matter what happens on Saturday these two will probably* be the favorites to get to Saturday night at MSG a week later, what if the Hoyas could only win one of these two games? Which would you rather have?
Personally, my head explodes when trying to make a decision. Neither outcome is pretty. Obviously I'd love to hold serve at home and win the regular season title, but at the same time I loathe the idea of Ville taking the rubber match on the neutral floor and would love to go into the tourney on a winning streak.
Ultimately, however, I guess I'd rather win the regular season title and take the undefeated home season. A loss in the BET will sting, but not as much as losing both regular season games to Pitino.
*denotes recognition that UConn could finish with 2 seed upon Louisville loss and other scenarios, but does not express opinion as to whether this should make UConn the favorite to get to the final.

I'd rather take the tournament title. I personally consider the Big East tournament champion the real champion, and back to back Big East tournament titles excites me more than back to back Big East regular season titles.

I'm not assuming anything heading into the tourney regardless of how the game turns out on Saturday. We will be one of the favorites either way, but considering how close many of our BE games have been, and my personal opinion that we still aren't playing particularly well, I'm not confident heading into the tourney. That being said, lets beat them twice...and i would also hate to lose to Pitino again. He's close to being in the bottom feeders of the college basketball ranks with Calhoun, Huggins and Calipari.

Why can't we just win both And I agree with royski, I (usually) consider the true BE champion to be who wins the tournament. Exception: Cuse.

I'm torn.
The Regular Season title is probably more indicative of who the best team is...but the Tournament is later and I think what everyone thinks about when they think BE Champion. The "Later" component is huge -- if Louisville has to beat us twice, I'd rather our win be the last game played.
But I wouldn't trade our chance to win 2 or lose 2 for a guaranteed 1-1 split, either.

Oh another hypo! Well first, what jurisdiction are we in?
Sorry. I'd just rather win both. I really think that if we get all of the positives we've seen this year in at least 2 games (stellar defense, Dajuan hitting shots, Jon making rain, Roy getting the ball enough) we can be the most dangerous team in the BE. So let's just do that.

I'm sorry I don't think you can make a choice like this.
If i had to choose I'd say regular season here's why: 1) want to have that undefeated at home. 2) Regular season is more indicative of who's the best. It is the real big east champion to me. 3) Cuse proved the best team doesn't always win the BET 4) i know this may be outside the realm of the hypo, but there's no guarantee both theams will make it to the final so I'd take the win now.

not only is there no guarantee that both teams will make it to the final, this year, the big east is TOO GOOD to expect both teams to make it to the final. remember two years ago, where uconn and nova were definitive favorites and uconn got knocked out in the QUARTERFINALS by 'cuse (okay, mcnamara was a runaway train that season, but still).
i'd rather the win now, the back-to-back titles that we've never had before, and let's be honest, even getting to the BET finals is remarkable this year.

hah i love how we can turn one hypothetical into more, and then still answer "id rather win both".
the question is basically would you rather win the big east regular season, win on senior night for the senior class that has turned georgetown around, and keep the perfect home record - or would you rather win the big east tournament in nyc and have that momentum going into the NCAAs? for me, id rather get the win tomorrow for wallace, hibbert, ewing and crawford and win the regular season title. the hypothetical has us losing to louisville in the big east championship game which will be fine because our seeding wouldn't be affected much and we wouldn't be on a long winning streak going into the NCAAs which might make us complacent (though it didnt last year). either way its a tough decision because winning the BET and cutting down that net in nyc is AWESOME and to do it 2yrs in a row would be really special.

I don't want our seniors to lose on their Senior Day. I don't want us to lose at Verizon the last time a good number of us are going to see the team in person this season. I want this team to accomplish that none of the other great teams in Georgetown history has ever done. This one is a no-brainer for me. If we were on the road, it would be different, but I'm already anxious enough about this game as it is. No way I trade a BET title for a HUGE win on Senior Day and the chance to have the Championship Trophy presentation on our court in front of our fans and for these guys that have given so much to the program.

Too many possibilities in the Tournament.

Have the Hoyas ever advanced to the Final Four without winning the BET tournament title? That being the case, I'd rather take the second game.

Honestly, I am sort of at peace that we may not win the Big East tournament, so in that regard, the regular season is in our grasp tomorrow and i want to hold serve against Lville. Id love to have the #2 in NCAAs that would probably come with BET title, but as others have said above, this might be toughest BET of all time. We may play Pitt on the first day, UConn on the 2nd and Lville in the final.

Much rather have a shirt that says "2008 Big East Champions" instead of "2008 Big East Tournament Champions". Wouldn't be the worst thing to lost in the BE tourney and refocus for the NCAAs. We didn't exactly have momentum last year anyway as we had to come from behind to beat BC, Vandy and UNC despite winning the BE tourney.

If I saw a Big East Champions shirt from some random year, I would just assume it was for a team that won the BET. For me, the regular season championship is good for only one reason, it means that the team had a great year so from Nov through March I was a happy fan. If G'town won all its games except one, and some other team went undefeated, it really wouldn't bother me...I would just want the #2 seed to equal a BET championship. hm

Beat Louisville tomorrow.
Playing them in the BET is no guarantee, if we don't win tomorrow, it's possible we don't get either Big East Championship, it's Senior Day for one of the most important classes in GU history, and an undefeated season at home and a 21-game home winning streak is on the line.
Beat Louisville tomorrow. Beat Louisville tomorrow. BEAT LOUISVILLE TOMORROW.
