Since the #2 should be playing the #3, it really makes no difference which we end up being. Not really any easier to beat a #15 compared to a #14 or a #7 instead of a #6 to get to that Sweet 16 game. Would want to avoid being a #4 though because then you'd be playing the #1 in the Sweet 16 if form holds true. Right, but if you're the #2 team, then you're supposed to be better than the #3 team, whereas if you are the #3, then odds are the other team is better/has a better resume.

Well, here is why I think 2 is more significant than 3. The 1s and 2s are the only seeds that are really protected. IMO, the only true S curve that the Committee can do is with the 1s and 2s. There is a highest 1 and a lowest 2, etc. After that, you necessarily have to start considering conference matchups - e.g, Gtown cant play Pitt in the second round. Because of that, there is no such thing as the highest 3 seed. So, i really do think there is a difference with us being the last 2 seed. Once you become a 3, the committee will move you wherever you fit best, without regard to whether you deserve to play a better 2 seed, or 6 seed, etc.

good point Jook....I feel like especially in this year's bracked the difference between the 2 and 3 is pretty big. That current bracket with us in UCLA and Kansas' bracket? No thanks. That would be killer.

Yeah, I might not be explaining that correctly, but the long and short of it is that the Committee will do more to protect the 1s and 2s. You can see that each year because it is evident that the highest #1 is always with the lowest #2, and so on. That means that Committee puts those 8 teams on the board, and then everything flows from there.

looks like they updated the bracketology today and surprise surprise we are still a 3 seed....does anyone have Insider so they can tell us what is written about the Hoyas and why they are where they are and what they need to do to move up (according to Lunardi) Just curious as to what it says sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology

Beat Louisville -- one of the hottest teams in the country -- to win second regular season BE championship in a row, finish 25-4 (15-3), go to BET as the #1 seed with wins over ND, UConn, UL, Pitt, WVU and Marquette (all Tourny teams) and right there, before the BET starts, we're a #2 seed.
What we do in the BET, and what a few other teams (Whiskey, Dook) do in their conference tournaments, can change that...

Yeah, I think Lunardi mentioned in his chat that was a pretty weak #2 seed. He noted that it is hard to put a Big East team at a 2 now because you just dont know how things are going to shake out. I have to agree with him, there. I bet the winner of tomorrow's game will show up as a #2 next week.
