Except that we broke up with him and never sat alone in our apartment mooning about him. We don't need closure, we just don't want to hear about him anymore, much less be told that we owe him reparations. If anything, Esherick is like the husband in Sleeping with the Enemy that we wish would just go away -- far, far, far away. Sleeping with the Enemy? Really?? I prefer to think of the comparison to Lara Flynn Boyle in Wayne's World. (but that might be just because I prefer to think of Lara Flynn Boyle). Hmmm...Julia Roberts, Lara Flynn Boyle....Maybe the Ann Coulter ad shows up when the discussion turns to women who are kinda' hot, but mostly just bony and annoying. And by the way TC, please phrase your response in the form of a haiku. ;D

Pierce beats a dead horse. Esh was bad, but we are back. St. John's will need help.

Thank you, Esh, for being such a bad coach, so we could hire JTIII and return to the promised land.
Thank you delivered. Let's move on.

Hey you know what I think would be awesome? If everyone who wants to "move on" just keeps posting about "moving on" so this thread stays right up at the top.

In light of Esherick's contract extension until the 2008-09 season, I hope this discussion lives on until then.

Awesome. "But, GU's mistake enabled me to recruit Craig to teach at NYU in our master's of sports business program where he is winning every time he steps in front of a class." "Craig perfectly fits the current profile of the most successful head coaches out there in all sports: reasonably successful coaches fired with near or better than .500 records."

The thread closes Thursday. The horse is DOA at this point.
FWIW, with a buyout, coaches are paid a lumpsum and not through the term of their agreement. But returning to the fray....

I thought Craig was teaching a sports management class at mason? he teaches at NYU too? good for him. I was more than happy to see him go as coach, but i wish him the best of luck as a teacher. Every human being deserves a minimum level of respect, because they are humans, but I don't feel like there was anything wrong with what Georgetown short of maybe not telling craig in person when he was fired(if that's true). I really think this issue really needs to just be left in the past. This article was irresponsible by nixon and i hope the hoya posts at least one letter to the editor on the subject.

The horse is DOA at this point. It's been dead for years but I think if we just beat it a little longer...

Nothing better then beating a dead horse...until all of it rots to the skeleton...at which point we will take up the bones and beat something else! (Who says we didn't come from cavemen)

Good to see that Esherick is doing well in his new career at NYU.

Only Bill Simmons and Tim Legler care about that league anytime outside of June. Now, if Jeff Green was a Yankee or a Patriot (or a racehorse).......

Wow - I don't even know what to say about that NYU Professor's comment. The most damning part of all of this is that neither Pierce or Boland spelled out what they think the "egregious" treatment of Esherick was.

I sure hope the ballroom dancing team performs at tonight's game. Otherwise, once this thread closes, what the hell will we have to talk about? We'll have to go back to baiting HFE/80s until he explodes.

A dead racehorse. <blatant attempt to extend thread> I miss Barbaro, don't you? Can't wait to see his LOVELY monument at the Derby. I LOVE AND MISS YOU, BARBS!!! I HOPE YOU'RE GALLOPING THROUGH THE FIELDS OF HORSEY HEAVEN!!! Oh yeah... Esh sucks. EDIT: Anyone else care to see how ridiculously off-topic and insane this thread can get before it is closed at midnight? Because I don't think we've reached our potential yet, folks.

Awesome. "But, GU's mistake enabled me to recruit Craig to teach at NYU in our master's of sports business program where he is winning every time he steps in front of a class." "Craig perfectly fits the current profile of the most successful head coaches out there in all sports: reasonably successful coaches fired with near or better than .500 records." Pretty naive comment, I would even say disingenuous, coming from someone who is "involved in" negotiating sports contracted. www.scps.nyu.edu/about-scps/newsroom/experts/robert-boland.htmlBut at least you can se why he focused on NFL coaches. BTW, I read too much into his response, inferring that he "hired" Esherick; looks like he is only an associate professor (not administration), so apparently he only did "recruit" him to NYU. I am going to guess that there is some sort of history / friendship between the two.

I wonder if when you raise your hand in Esh's NYU class, he refuses to acknowledge you until you make "the fist"
