PF 4 Vernon Macklin (I. C. Norcom HS) Portsmouth, VA 6-9/210/21.0 Med No Georgetown, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest
This guy is talking about he wants to play for the Hoyas but, they have not offered to him as of yet. he is class of 2006. He had a game on Directv today and let me tell you this guy is a beast. Would be nice to have him and Roy in the middle. He is a 5 star rated on rivals.com

I dont think will be a problem, III will make sure he hits the weights but they have not offered to him yet. And the way I see the roster we need a few more big men in the front court. We only have offered to 2 guys in the 2006 class and they are both Point Guards.

Air, where did you hear Vernon say that he wants to play for GU?
BTW, I don't think an offer will be an issue with this guy. If he wants to come, there will be an offer, no questions asked. The days of the Shan Foster treatment are over.

Big events were the Peach Jam and AAU Nationals. Scored big win in a head-to-head game against Kevin Durant. SOPH Nicknamed "The Big Ticket." Earned first-team all-Tidewater honors. 21 Very athletic and brandishes a jumper. Could wind up being either a PF or SF but has a natural tendency to drift to the perimeter. Vernon is a Boo Williams player like Mourning and Iverson (and Darian Townes). If you keep up with high school hoops you gotta know about him. For years he has been mentioned as the next great superstar from the state of Virginia. The Hoyas want this guy. But the NBA beckons.

After the high school game they had an interview just showed some clips or whatever, and he said he wants to be a hoya because of their history of big men. I was jumping up and down but then he said he has gotten offers from other colleges but not GU as of yet.

I was scanning other articles, and there are also several in which he says that he wants to play for North Carolina. And considering the NBA is also very likely to come calling, I would consider this guy a huge longshot, to say the least.

If this info is true can someone please send it to our coaching staff or post it on Hoyareport so some of their staff can forward it. This guy would be a huge addition to the team if only for a couple of years. Its worth it to have him for the short term even if he will go pro. We would be a top 15 team with this guy for sure.

the buzz on this kid(here locally) is insane. I'm guessing he's shaking the Commish hand after his Sr. year.

Trust me, the staff knows about this guy and they are on top of it. trust you GUHoya? Is that a joke? did you glean this information off JTIII after one of your private brainstorm sessions with the coaching staff on recruiting? I mean you have done a lot for mobilizing the fanbase, but don't forget that you are a friggin' college sophomore dude - i mean give me a break - someone definitely needs to stuff you in a locker or pull a private pyle on you -- anyone got some socks and a couple of bars of soap?

Not that anyone needs me to stick up for them, but Macklin is a huge name on the recruiting circuit, and any top 25 (never mind top 10) recruit who expresses an interest in G'town is not going to go unnoticed. This staff has shown a remarkable range in their recruiting activities, and basically, Macklin is on par with(if not higher profile than) a Rudy Gay in terms of visibility, so it's a safe assumption that nobody on the staff needs an inside track on finding out who this guy is.

Shimmy, calm down. There's another site that covers the Hoyas. Hoyareport.com. It's quite good and a subscription site. GUHoya007 is a member, as are many others.
Even without that, the idea that the staff wouldn't know about Macklin is ridiculous. What you really get a sense of at Hoyareport is the extent to which we're scouring the four corners of the earth for talent, especially in the class of 2006. Macklin is a top 10 player in our backyard. They know plenty about him.
