That's the quote from Sean-a-cuse on the Ewing monster slam.
I couldn't agree more. And that's why we need energy right away and not this "energy off the bench" nonsense. We need Ewing on the floor to make us unpredictable. We need his passing and we need his defense.
Austin is a freshman and we shouldn't be asking him to do what he's probably not ready to do honestly. Let him play within himself as a bench scorer.
This was our best game since Seton Hall and surprise! Ewing didn't back the ball out on an easy slam in that one either. Sometime this team makes Ann Coulter look like Che Guevara it's so conservative.
On a separate note, JON'S BACK! I hope he gets 57 threads and nobody says "clutter."

i would love to see us continue to punish teams when we have numbers. That killer attitude is really important.....our defense will get stops but we need to capitalize when we can. Watching the Duke Wake game yesterday was the antithesis of this....just run and gun no matter how far they are up. I remember thinking thank god we are more disciplined than that but I also thought that this would really help us out at the right times

I thought that for the most part we made good decisions today vis a vis attacking after beating the press or pulling back and resetting the offense. Pat's monster slam was exactly what was needed at that moment.

I can't say I see why it would matter who starts, just who gets minutes.

Besides, why mess with it? He seems to play better off the bench and contribute more, so I'd keep him as the instant energy guy the way he is now.

You guys sound like the company I work for. "Let it work 'cause it works until it doesn't work anymore" is our motto. Smart.
We start second halves slowly. That's a problem. We have a guy who brings energy and defense. So why not try starting him, at least in the second half?

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Like Ewing off the bench and thought Freeman played pretty well today after having some bad games. Worry about damaging his confidence, rather keep it as is. Agree with you that Ewing brings great energy and defense.

Early in the season people said we needed a spark off the bench and Ewing would be better there. Now apparently we need a spark in the starting lineup. Personally I don't think messing with the rotation will fix any of our problems (although I wish Rivers didn't have to play as much). It seems to me that your purpose would be better served by simply playing Ewing more; again, I don't see why it matters if he starts the game or comes in after 5 minutes if he plays the same amount overall.

I never said that for the record. It's important because the middle ten minutes (5 at the end of the first, 5 at the start of the second) are the most important 10 minutes in the game outside of crunch time. Finish strong and start strong and you can put away teams. I think Ewing should play more but all minutes are not created equal. There's a reason you start and finish with your best players and don't play 5 of the best 8 at random. Put it this way, would you yell at the TV if Roy played 32 minutes but didn't play the first 4 of the game and the last 4? Surprised you want Rivers to play less.

It seems to me a lot of runs seem to come when Rivers is in. I guess, because most runs are started by defense.
