Maybe I just need to be optimistic about the Hoyas right now, but isn't 'Nova exactly the type of team we match up well with?
They're an above average team offensively. Fine -- we're a good defensive team.
The 'Cats are a mediocre team defensively. This doesn't mean our backcourt will have a huge game tonight, but the guards certainly have a better opportunity than Saturday, when we played one of the better defensive teams in the nation.
Yeah, that's an overly simplistic analysis. But as long as we play good perimeter defense tonight, I doubt we get beat by Reynolds/Fisher (who take the bulk of 'Nova's shots). And as long as the Hoyas take care of the basketball when they have possession I think we'll see better production from our guards tonight, mainly because 'Nova's 3pt defense is terrible.

By all accounts, we should win this game going away, but that just seems to never happen against Villanova. Even the frickin game that we led 37-8, we only won by like 5!

Well, we don't exactly handle the press with finesse, and we sure don't seem like we know what to do when faced with a decent zone lately. So, what should be an easy game (compared to, say, Louisville) probably won't be so easy.

"We're a long way away from where I want to be," Thompson said last week. "It takes a lot to build a program. I don't want to have a good team. I don't want to have something that's cute and trendy. I want this program to be good, to be the best, forever. That's all-encompassing. We still are in the infancy phases, literally and figuratively, of getting to where we will be."
Is JTIII discounting the possibility of genuine championship run this year?

The worst part about this is we haven't learned one thing from last year's game. Not one thing.
We need someone to get hot. We're not winning this one on strategy, that's for sure.

crap first half. i don't understand. we know how nova is going to play, yet we come out and play the same way we did last year. other than summers, nobody is strong taking the ball to the basket off the dribble. reynolds is making our guards look ridiculous.
again, half our shots are 3's...and we're not making them. does this team learn anything after a loss? crawford has as many fg attempts as roy. i really have to question exactly what the gameplan was coming into this game. we know they are going to press, so do we attack it? no. passive, passive, passive.
is freeman even in the game? 1 fg attempt.
our perimeter players are really weak with the ball. so frigging frustrating.
people on this board can trash reynolds all they want, but i'd take him in a minute over any of our guards on the floor tonight.
