Tyler is awesome - one of my favorite all-time hoyas. If the guy was 6'8 I have no doubt he would be in the NBA. Don't know anything about his coaching skills but I think he would be an amazing strength and conditioning coach.

"There are thoughts of a career in law enforcement; both the FBI and Secret Service interest Crawford"
I would sleep better at night knowing that Tyler is protecting the country

He's one of my all-time favorite Hoyas as well. What a class act! love this quote:
“I love this place, I mean I look at all the guys that’s been here before me,” Crawford glowingly spouts. “This is like an empire, like I’m apart of something bigger than me.”
now i'm having trouble deciding if i'd rather have him or JW be our next head coach. I am leaning towards Tyler these days. JW has politics written over him, Tyler's born to be a coach.

Clearly Tyler Crawford brings something to the team in terms of leadership and toughness- JTIII goes out of his way to say so, as do his teammates. That said, he seems a little too tightly wound when he gets on the floor, fouling at a very high rate, getting into minor scuffles, punching basket supports, etc. It is likely he might be more even-keeled with more playing time, but I am not sure how his demeanor now would translate as a coach.

How can you not do anything but root for this young man. Truly a class act. He patiently waited his time his freshman year and got the starting nod for 2 guard last year. Then just before the Vanderbilt game had the bad luck to get sick and Sapp took his place in the starting lineup, and the rest is history. Most young men going from starter to less than 8 minutes a game would have sulked and been a detriment to the team chemistry. Tyler has been just the opposite. Al McGuire used to say you measure a player by the positive things he does on the court vs the negative. I can't remember many negative things if any Tyler has done in his time on the court this year. He is one of the best cutters to the basket and a very good rebounder and 3pt shooter. His only seemingly weakness is his handle, and I say this not for anyone taking ball from him, but from a seemingly reluctance by him to put the ball on the floor. If anyone deserves a graduate assistant coaches position , it is this young man,

As some of you already already stated. This young man is one of my favorite all-time hoyas as well. For a freshman to remain at a school where his head coach was relieved of duty. That speaks volumes. Most would transfer to another school and continue a career. He stood the test of time and excelled at getting a first rate education. A little history on the man they call "Bam Bam", before then he was also known as "Iceberg Slim", and in high school "Air force-1" for his ridiculous ups. In his 4 year varsity career at Robert E. Lee High school, he has some astounding numbers. Player of the year his senior year. If you check the record books in VHSL history, this young man at 6' 4" is one of only three players ever to score over 2000 points and record over 1000 rebounds. (Actually 1293) Only Ralph Sampson had more rebounds at 7 foot 4 figure the odds right? He is also one of only five known players in VHSL history to average a double double his entire 4 year career in high school. I have been in coaching AAU for quite a few years now, and had the pleasure of coaching him. But also had the disparity of trying to stop him as an opponent. Last but not least having the agony of watching him defeat my team. I have on count he has had at least 5 buzzer beaters in his HS career. I have watched him dunk on a center at 6'10" in tournament play as his team was headed to the state title. I have seen him pin a shot of a 6'9" guy on the backboard at the top of the square. There were other top name schools looking for him........... Clemson to be one, Va Tech, West Va, Penn St, even the IVY League with Brown had feelers on this guy. Clearly at 6'3" is his overall down fall. If 6'8" or 6'9" the conference would be put on notice. I suspect we will see him again in the near future as an overseas standout, making his way back to the states. On the other hand if not basketball he will coach. All the passion and talent with desire that burns oh so deep. I remember this quote from him after a loss. "Loser's are like gambler's in Las Vegas, they blame there losses on "bad luck" and the missed opportunity. Winner's and leader's are like a good pastor, they practice what they preach to win, to get the congregation to the promise land without no excuses or complaints. My team mates and I don't believe in luck nor gambling, moaning, or groaning, basketball is our religion, faith, and future. After that loss his team went on an 89 game winning streak. My hats off to a true leader, gentleman, and scholar. I hope your shining moment comes this year.
Go Hoyas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
