Boy, they are really going all out to make this a big time event, aren't they?
Here's hoping Duke is back on the schedule next year. Let Greg Monroe show them what they are missing. Or maybe even a big time pre-season tournament for a change.

The Dukies should be loaded for bear next season. While they do lose leading scorer DeMarcus Nelson, he's the only senior on a squad that's played very well together this year. They would present quite a challenge to a Hoya squad that'll be rebuilding/retooling its frontcourt. Our team next season will also be the first made up completely of JT III recruits. Should be interesting....

Honestly, this "event" is completely retarded. There needs to be more games.

They should make it dependent on the conference tournament results from the previous year or the pre-season rankings.
The pre-season top 5 in the Big East play the pre-season top 5 in the SEC. First night the #5's and #4's play each other, next night the #3's and #2's, and on the last night the grand finale with the pre-season favorites from each conference facing off.

Georgetown starts up another Home and Home with Duke next year. So you'll get your wish. If there is ever a team that a young frontcourt will make it's mark--Duke is who you want to face.
Marquette and Creepy Tom Crean against Bruce "I'll do anything for exposure--including exposure" Pearl and Tennessee. Can a game end in both teams losing? If so--please let it be this one.

Interesting that there aren't any "real" Big East teams in the event.

Shouldn't Alabama and Auburn HAVE to return those games.

Shouldn't Alabama and Auburn HAVE to return those games. Well as we all know, the game in Birmingham against Alabama was neutral. Ken pom gets it at least partially right when he calls it "semi-away"

The Big East/SEC challenge should include all teams except for those excluded because we run out of teams since the BE is so big.

Interesting that there aren't any "real" Big East teams in the event. Exactly, the SEC-Conference USA challenge is really going to draw viewers I'm sure I mean seriously, these are definitely not the Big East teams that matter (except Louisville) or the SEC teams that matter (except UT, and MAYBE Vandy). Who the heck is going to care about Mississippi State and Cincy? I won't even watch that. When people think of a Big East/SEC challenge, they want to see teams like UConn, Syracuse and Georgetown against teams like Florida, Kentucky and LSU. Not this. They are pretty much killing any momentum this challenge might have had by year two.

I had heard this, but do you know if it's locked in? Also, do you know if the Hoyas would host next year's game. Our home OOC schedule next year would be incredible if we could host Memphis and Duke.

Marquette has "mattered" for the Big East. That MU-Tennessee game looks pretty good - pity it's on their turf. (It also matters for us that another non-football school succeeds).
The problem is that there are only four games, only one of which is designed as a marquee one (amazingly enough, Alabama was supposed to be pretty good before they got hurt). When they do just one marquee game, it's not even worth it.
This series can succeed, but it needs to build some more ground.

I have a feeling that after 2010, when the contract runs out, it will be added to.
Also, it will help if certain coaches aren't coaching then.

These games remind me of a Spinal Tap album title If I'm reading you correctly, it's not actually the album title, but what a music critic thought the album should have been titled. And it's a type of sandwich.

The Big East/SEC challenge should include all teams except for those excluded because we run out of teams since the BE is so big. Supposedly that is how it was set up. 4 games between SEC and BE teams a year for 3 years, with each SEC team playing once and only once. How they selected the 12 teams from the BE however, I have no idea. And since Florida hasn't played yet, we will be in the mix in 2009. What are the BE teams that haven't/won't have played? DId Syracuse play? I always cherish a chance to mash them. And we should be really, really good in the 2009-2010 season.
