Seth Davis is correct in what he says about playing zone against Hoyas--however...you have to take into account that most teams don't use it as their primary defense-like Cuse-and if you don't-then it's not as effective--shooters get open looks and it leaves opportunities for putbacks.
For instance--look how effective ND's zone was against Hoyas--it got eaten alive. You can play it--but you better have it as something more then a 1 game thing--or else it'll get torched.
WVU went man to man for a 3 minute stretch--saw lead evaporate into a 1 pt Hoya lead due to backdoor cuts.

Please change the title of this thread to "Seth Davis weighs on on perfectly legitimate block that no referee would have called goaltending in a million years"
Also of note:
"• Whenever I see a raw but talented big man, I have only one question: Does he love to play? A lot of big men are out there just because they're big and they think that's what they're supposed to do. But if they don't truly love the game, they never get better."
Does this describe anyone we know? Hee hee hee.

he said the same thing on mike & mike this am... and noted WVU's horrible free throw shooting that would have negated the need tomake a last second shot.. sometimes i feel like these guys don't ever say anything original on the radio - just repeat their articles.

Seth is most certainly not our Dickie V. He gets down on the Hoyas too often for my taste...
Jay Bilas is the closest thing we've got to a Dickie V, and he's a very credible presence to begin with.

Maybe that's a bad label, but he is very concerned with our doings morso than is normal for a national writer, as is Luke Winn (who maybe fits the Dickie V label better) and Garry Parrish (who thinks he knows what's best for us). You can't deny his interest and concern

A little further down the page, Davis also weighs in on former Hoya superstar Matt Causey:

I saw the end of the UVA game as I was waiting for Duke-Maryland to start. Causey hit a 27 foot dagger to put away UVA in OT.

Also note Davis' last comment -- Seton Hall on the move . . . . We better not look past Saturday's game. Of course, we better not look past tomorrow night's game, either.

I'm glad Seth finally weighed in on this.....he did SUCH a great job of analyzing Jeff and THE TRAVEL last year onthe CBS broadcast. I wonder if he used the same blurry "microscope view" on Ewing's had that he used on Jeff's foot.
