uoflsports.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/011808aab.html"LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Fans are encouraged to wear white to Louisville's nationally televised showdown with Georgetown in February as the Cards will look to "White Out the Hoyas" on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall." Should be a great atmosphere at Freedom Hall for this game, hopefully we can send a lot of white-clad people home disappointed. It would be nice to se us try a Gray Out at home for a big game such as Syracuse or Nova one day, or maybe even Louisville this year? Unlikely this year, but I can always hope. It seems like it could be attempted fairly easily, at least in the lower bowl for now. Get a sponsor and print their logo on the back of a gray t-shirt that simply says something like Georgetown on the front and put them on all the non-student seats in the lower bowl. Also, publicize it for over a month on guhoyas.com, through Hoop Club emails, etc. We should keep trying to improve the atmosphere at Verizon Center, it's come a long way, but we can always keep getting better.

I was shocked at how few fans wore Gray to the Cuse game. It was a nationally televised game, on a holiday (easier to coordinate wardrobes to match the Hoyas colors, I assume, though blue and gray are pretty standard work attire anyway in DC). Even at Saturday's ND game, the media screens in the phone booth all prompted fans to "Wear Gray on Monday." Our fans are too hodge-podge in turning up in random t-shirts, button downs, etc.
If you're not going to wear a gray WAG shirt, at least wear something gray of your own to a game!!!

Whiteouts are terryfying and have been known to cause our players to tremble in fear. Might as well concede that game to them right now

Whiteouts are terryfying and have been known to cause our players to tremble in fear. Might as well concede that game to them right now ODU tried one right? I'm sure this will be much more impressive than that one. Also, it's clearly not gonna scare the visiting team or anything like that, but it makes for a really cool view and improves the atmopshere to see a major thing like this coordinated. As far as our home games, it really would be great to see people try and wear gray of any kind to home games. Or at the very least wear something that is dark blue or gray, but I really don't understand the people who never think of wearing anything Georgetown related to the games, come on people, where is your pride? Can't you sacrifice your fashion for 2 hours and support the team?

The idea of a similar gray shirt with a sponsor is good idea (but it may be hard to work out with the various powers i.e. verizon, sprint) Chik-fil-a though may be incredibly down for something like that. they have really been ramping up advertising these past two years and i have had personal experience with them and advertising and they seem very open to fresh ideas especially because they allow individual store managers alot of independence when it comes to local advertising/sponsoring.
It is unlikely that verizon will ever be able to be Grayed Out. its just the nature of sports fans in washington, if its not the redskins fandom is rather nonchalant. other than the students seats are still only about half full in the lower bowl for big games before introductions.
but shame on any hoop club members who dont make a solid attempt to wear gray every game.

I go to all the home games, but my current lucky shirt is blue. I'm sure you understand. It is a Georgetown shirt though. I'll work on breaking in a gray one for the rest of the year.
I didn't see the signs at the ND game to wear gray on Monday.

White out or not, I just want our boys to spank them for the fact that some of their fans popped up on the WVA boards in support of a goaltending call and "robbery" of a WVA win.

Let me preface by saying I always wear GU gray tee shirts to games but one of the problems with the more "stylishly inclined" among us is the terrible selection of gray GU golf shirts, polos, etc. available for the older or more style conscious. An upgrade in the quality & choice would make it much easier to get the "older" crowd on board.

As long as we don't wear our white jerseys, I'm happy.

i think that's a lot easier to coordinate when you have your own arena and students and young alums make up a larger percentage of the arena. i doubt that would ever happen at the phone booth. we can't even keep opposing fans out of the lower bowl.

I agree but have you ever seen the crowd at Freedom Hall? Its mostly grey haired mommas and pappas. Even at venues like the BET the LVille fan base seems very old in comparison to other groups. Our crowds are much much younger

What is even the deal for the L'ville game in terms of the student section? Isn't that game on the Saturday of the tail end of their spring break? Hope we can at least fill the 100's student sections.
IMO, a gray out (even if just in the lower bowl) isn't going to happen unless you leave a gray t-shirt on every seat. You can't count on everyone to come to the game wearing one. Any possible way to get this done in a little over a month?

I think we should save anything like a gray out for next year. This needs planning and advertising well in advance, especially if it is going to be worked out with a sponsor for gray shirts. Also, I think it should be against a traditional rival like cuse or nova.

The 'White out' is the most annoying trend in recent sports fandom. You prefer the blackout that certain teams (like the one near the end green line) have been doing?

I wouldnt worry too much about the student turn out for the Lville game at home. it is the second weekend of the spring break and last year tons of people came back for a game in the same scheduling. i think last year the villanova game was on the last weekend of winter break and the student sections were filled up well. students recognize the impact of the games and will comeback for them.

If there is anyone going to the L'ville game (and has lower seats), wear your blue to disrupt their white out!!! (Also you will be more noticeable on national TV)
