It's a real bummer, but when you're dealing with a young player's health it's better to be safe than sorry.
The potential redshirt on Nikita might also explain why he hasn't seen the court yet.

Call me crazy but I think he will be back. From the tone of the interview it seemed like he would be back. We could use him.

Well at least we know now. This is our lineup. Expect a little more Tyler Crawford in our future. We'll need at least spot minutes from him.

The best thing about our coach and for our recruiting:
"We made the decision along with him and his family just to be overly cautious."
It's little things like that, that make a difference with recruits and their parents.

Very unfortunate. When's the last time a college player came back at the highest level after basically missing a year?

Very unfortunate. When's the last time a college player came back at the highest level after basically missing a year? From a Hoya standpoint, top ten Hoya great Craig Shelton had a great Hoya career after missing most of his first year with a knee injury that would appear to have been far worse than what Wright has suffered.

yeah dhall that is actually a ridiculous statement. off the top of my head, josh shipp has come back as a starter for ucla after missing all but 4 games of his sophomore season...

I wouldn't be concerned about Chris not coming back at his highest level if he misses the balance of the year with this injury. Most other year-ending injuries are usually knee or ankle ligament damage which take a minimum of 18 months to properly heal. The recovery for the reported injury shouldn't require the same amount of recovery time and physical therapy. Sounds to me like he just needs to rest it to make sure it fully heals, get some therapy work and he'll be fine in no time. My guess is that he probably came back a little sooner than he should have from the initial injury which is why they are now taking the safe route. So long as there isn't any structural damage to any of the ligaments in the joint he should be fine with some rest. With rest and good treatments it should be possible for him to be back for the BET and NCAAs, but it's totally understanable to keep him out to ensure a 100% recovery. Feet take a beating on the hardwood so extra rest is required for proper healing.

GU will be fine. They will get quality minutes from Crawford, as long as he stays aggressive and looks for his shot when its there. Defensively he is Wrights' equal, if not better positionally.

Ball handling will be the loss here along with not having someone who can take it to the rack. I would like to see both Sapp & Rivers pick up their drives to the paint.

This is what seperates JTIII from guys like Pitino and Crean. Do you have any doubt that if Chris was with one of these other coaches that they would tell him to "shake it off, we need you"? Or even worse, if he ended up and NC State where he would be the ONLY point guard on the team, they would use him until the injury became serious.
Smart move by coach

we got along last year without a super-quick penetrating guard, i think we will be ok. we just need to minimize our turnovers...that is key.
