surprised people have UCLA ahead of us their two losses have both come at home and ours were both on the road. At the same time, according to "our" poll UCLA has also beaten the #6, #10 and #14 teams this year while we haven't beaten any team in "our" top 25

I guess i just look more at who you lost to. we lost to #1 and #13 away they lost to #12 and ARV at home which is worse in my book.

It seems our poll is just as guilty as the major polls of playing the game of dropping people after a loss and pretty much only then.
Two losses to Texas and USC aren't going to convince me that Tennessee is better than UCLA. Tennessee has some really good wins -- and I'm not downgrading them -- but I think Kansas and Memphis are one and two and UCLA is probably next.
Washington State got blown out at UCLA. It only got "close" because they hit seven straight garbage time threes. I realize it was at UCLA, but still, that's a lot to chalk up to home away.
Our resume is significantly weaker right now than most of the other Top 10.

If you want to look at the teams you lost to you also need to account for how the team played in the loss or how bad the loss was. The Hoyas lost badly in both games while UCLA was close with USC (3 point game with a minute) and down to the wire against Texas.
This is not a knock, but by your logic HSB, Indiana would be ahead of the Hoyas and I don't think they are nearly as good as G'town.

I guess in my logic only the top 8 teams are in the discussion and can't move from the top 8. But i wholeheartedly acknowledge my logic sucks.

HSB- I think it's tough to take one approach and rank the top 10-15 teams becuase of the number of factors. That said, I think right now the top 8 clearly are better than the rest. Mainly, because teams 9-11 in this ranking all play in the Big 10 and the Big 10 sucks. So maybe your logic of looking at just the top 8 isn't so bad.
