I think it's too early to be alarmed or confused...it's early and there haven't been very many announcements. Thus far I recall hearing about 4 commits. 3 of whom look to be athletic QBs (one of them plays safety) and one lineman who looks like a good get. Have also heard a report about another lineman who is leaning our way. Unless someone steps up big in the spring at QB I see no reason why we shouldn't recruit several strong QBs. We also don't know if any of the younger players rumored to have left the team are QBs. If a month from now we are having the same conversation then we may have cause for concern, but after only a handful of weekends of visits I don't see any need to worry...yet.

i'm actually a little confused by what G'Town is doing with their recruiting...but, that's just me. No, I don't think you are alone, but to echo what Ro said, it's too soon to judge. The information that is being posted here is not being released by Georgetown. For the most part it's coming from the kid directly who is speaking to a local newspaper. For all we know, Kelly's staff has a dozen 300 lb. athletic linemen all lined up to sign in a couple of weeks.

Replacements for former starters needed at: QB - Busseuner RB - Van Fleet OL - Osterhout LB - Green DB - Shotwell DB - Cherepski WR - Craft DL - Obiako We need big guys that can match physically with our opponents or even Tom Brady will look bad on this team.

You could add Darren Craft (LB) and Steve Smith (LB and #35) to that list of former starters. However those two plus Green and Shotwell didn't see much time last season. That group did start the last game (their last game) and if you check the stats, the safeties didn't have to make nearly as many tackles in that game as was typical during 1-10. (I think that's how the season will be identified--not as 2007, but as 1-10)

Rick Cosgrove was the starting wide receiver with Craft at the start of last season but went down with a broken hand or something. He is listed at 6'4'' 216lbs. From what I have seen he has good hands, speed, is physical and has the size necessary to play the position in this league. He was a walk on last year to boot.

Holds team record for shuttle and 40, also Iron Hoya in the weight room. This experience and dedication early in his Hoya career positioned him well for his ultimate role, mentor to the Frosh and Soph starters.

Another deserving Senior to mention is Matt Barbiasz. He was injured this past season. Matt holds Hoya and PL record with 99 yard interception return for TD in 2004 vs Bucknell.

the coaches need to learn how to recruit and talk to recruits, heard past few weekends haven't gone the best commitment wise. won't say anything specific but they need to step the hell up!
will be interesting to see what occurs next year - kelly will have basically 3 classes that are his (2 officially). Here's to some hopeful steps in the right direction.

Out of curiosity...what was Lancaster's record 40 time?

4.38. Not sure that the 40 is a team record, so I probably overstated, but it was the fastest time of past few years. However his 300 shuttle time was reported as record at the time, not sure of time. He'd be embarrassed that I'm posting, but what the heck.

This isn't the QB they covet most. My understanding is that they recently got a commit from another 6'3 guy from the NE area but neither is he their top QB "wish list" guy. The guy they covet most has visited but hasn't made up his mind yet. Who is the QB they 'covet' most

Hmm he is the first to "get a full 4 year scholarship" from Georgetown. Amazing how things are spun by media or parents!

Wait is this the Rockford kid or were we coincidently recruiting mutltiple QB's from the Northern Illinois area?
By reading that story it seems like he is just excited that he gets to come to Georgetown and its the name that pushed him to us. Good for him but I hope he doesn't have preconcieved notions on what the "offense" will look like
