Imagine the this official announcement is to address the media so that its not a constant question for the next couple of games (although given the lack of specifics, I'm sure it will continue to be). Hopefully something that doesn't last much more than that and that Chris' ankle is feeling better soon. guhoyas.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/011408aaa.html

It may have also been to get ahead of the rumors on this board and on campus. If so, kudos to the athletic department staff for quickly responding.

Hate to see this happen. After starting behind the eight-ball with his preaseason injury, and now missing at least the first 4 games of the Big East schedule, you have to hope he is able to be back and playing again in time to get back into the flow before the March is upon us.
The flip side is that I would much rather see him resting and getting healthy now, so he's at 100% when we'll really need the depth during the back-to-back games of the BET.

If he could get back 4-5 games before the end of regular season (or even 1-2) it would help him be more prepared once BET and NCAAs are upon us.

This has bad news all over it.
(he typed, shuddering as images of Anthony Perry rushed through his head...)

Of course, "no timetable" is an awful lot like "day to day". Can also be taken to mean he'll return when ready. Could be next week, could be next month.

We're going to need him before this year is over. Hoping he comes back sooner rather than later.

I'm guessing--betting, if you will--that he'll be back before Feb. 1. Do I have any takers? $20?

Questions. Is this the same foot he broke before the season? Are the problems because of the sprained ankle or lingering problems from broken foot? Not to be pessimistic but I remember Bill Walton having problems with broken foot that just never healed correctly.

Here's some optimism for Hoya fans. I found this through google (through Sports Network on S.J. Mercury news site) - and hopefully is accurate current info: "GEORGETOWN - *Guard Chris Wright (1/14, fractured right ankle) is probable for Monday's game against Pittsburgh." The asterisk is apparently for "new" info re: college basketball injuries. Here's the link: 64.246.64.33/default.asp?c=bayareaca&page=cbask/injury/cb-hurts.htm

Bilas is sorta right. It is not definite when he comes back. Just not the best way to phrase it.

Not to be pessimistic but I remember Bill Walton having problems with broken foot that just never healed correctly. I have been told he has re-aggrevated his previous foot injury. Also, and I know we're not supposed to be "speculating" or whatever, so I will generalize it, but I have been told that the prognosis is not looking good at all. As in, long-term. Hopefully he makes a quick recovery and can at least make it back for the tourney, but I'm not counting on it. Either way, the "probable" status for tonight is (and obviously was) wayyy off. Probably just a misprint or info error.

Could really have used him tonight. Yes, we needed his speed and shot creation. Hopefully we get him back asap

I know most of you won't listen to me because I'm a lurker and not a regular poster, but I've heard Chris's injury is a lot more serious than a rolled ankle, and I'm worried he won't be returning to the lineup anytime soon. Sorry to be so pessimistic about it. If this is the case though, I think we should still be able to overcome the loss of a freshman guard, even one as talented as Chris...I mean we have four other pretty good ones. Ah see, there is my verification. Word on campus is that this isn't much of a secret to anyone who personally knows Chris or the rest of the team for that matter. Sounds like the AD is just spreading their media propoganda yet again. All joking aside, I hope he can prove the doctors wrong, he is definitely going to be missed.

I call for a "31 Flavors" ruling on this thread.
