First off, I'm close to boycotting sports for a year. My Yanks choke , my Jets couldn't finish off the Steelers, and now my Hoyas come an inch from winning an awesome game only to lose in OT.
Now onto the game. I first gotta say it was the quietest game I've heard against the Hoyas in awhile. The pace of the game kept the crowd out of it. And crowd comments related to how much of a team the Hoyas look like again. Very patient with their shots, much better shooters and well coached. J Green looks pretty mature on the court for a freshman. Too bad he didn't last the game. Hibbert was shaky in the first half, not knowing what to do when he got the ball. But his 2nd chance rebounds and points shows he knows what to do when the ball goes up. J Wallace has a sweet shot. The crowd got into his head early but he settled down nicely. Cook never really got it going. The refs called some ticky-tack fouls. Though Warrick got his points , he didn't seem to dominate the game. GMac had some big baskets to get the crowd charged up. All in all, I love the way the Hoyas are playing now. I hardly saw a rushed shot. When we applied a full court press, the Orange had a hard time breaking it. Our foul shooting was pretty solid til I think they started getting tired. Our offense looked good , though I think relied on the 3 ball too much.
We came sooo close, its a great step forward. Too bad I live in Syracuse, now I'll have to hear how 'great' the Orange are again.
