"the gift" - adding two gifted freshmen (with more on the way)who are better than experienced guys who play their position. as a result, we can and will win games when we do not play to our full potential
"the curse" - as a result, the veteran players force things instead of letting the game come to them as they did last season. IMO, we are forcing too many things on O, and guys are doing things that are not their strengths (i.e pat and his jumpers; Jessie forcing jumpers and drives; rivers trying to do way too much on offense)

I do not think you are that far off - this is all part of the team getting comfortable as a team and making progress. There were quite a few times at this point in the season last year when the team looked like they were thinking too much on offense and as if it would never get it fully together. The team that ripped through the BET and into the Final Four was nothing like the one we saw in early January. This year's team has the potential to do the same thing. Will it happen? Time will tell.

I agree that the veteran guys seem to be worried about "making an impression" when they get their minutes, but I disagree that Wright is better than experienced players on the team - I don't think he has shown much composure at all, which is fine for a freshman. He's made a few nice plays against bad teams and also made a lot of mistakes. Rivers adds more to this team and should get more minutes than Wright at this point in my opinion.
Freeman is extremely talented and ready to play right now.

I think Patrick is definitely victim of this.

I feel like rivers played really well earlier and the season, but recently he has not played well at all at least on the offensive end. he's reverted back to rivers of last year lately.

i don't think he's been looking for his shot much lately. confidence in it may be down so he's hesitant.

I thought Rivers was fine on Saturday - and you really appreciate what he does on defense when you're able to watch him in person.

That was, in my opinion, certainly a huge turning point in that game v. Memphis, Dajuan. As long as he is confident enough to take those wide open jumpers when available, I will rarely, if ever, be upset when he's on the floor.
Having experienced the transition from Bobby Winston, Charles Smith, Dwayne Bryant and Mark Tillmon to Irvin Church, Charles Harrison and John Jacques while a student at GU, I'm giddy with Wallace, Sapp, Rivers and Wright as our primary backcourt options...
