Is currently held by Cincinnati! Even having David Padgett back wasn't enough for L'Ville, which lost at home today.

Even having David Padgett back wasn't enough for L'Ville, which lost at home today. Louisville just stinks right now. Padgett actually played well but that team has just had zero guard play. Between injuries (Pitt, Cuse, Louisville) and poor play you would have to say the Hoyas are strong favorites to repeat as regular season champs heading into the conference season.

We may be favorites, but this is still the Big East and they don't hand you any W's. The league is not going to be a walk in the park, and the Hoyas are going to face every other team's best effort. We have the bullseye. We make other teams' seasons if they can get a win on us.
I like our chances... but there's a long ways to go.

Be careful with your predictions, gutuna. Those in the know are saying the "system" may hold the Hoyas back.

Watching the game, I was amazed at all of the bad shots both teams took. Say what you will about the Hoya system, we very rarely take bad shots.

Using this as a "games of interest" thread, Alabama got obliterated at home to Clemson. Bama hadn't lost since the Georgetown game and if there was one OOC win that might stand up for the Hoyas it would have been Alabama. Still alot left to play of course.
Marquette and Georgetown are the big favorites to win the conference it would seem with the injuries to Pitt. Lousville would seem to be far below teams like Providence, Villanova, and UConn at a minimum.

I thought the Big East had a very good non-conference slate. Us beating Memphis would have helped on the signature win front, but I dont remember ever looking at the RPI at this point and seeing so many big east teams with good SOS and RPI ratings. With 18 games against each other, I would not be surprised to see 10 big east teams in the top 75 of the RPI by the end of the season.

Be careful with your predictions, gutuna. Those in the know are saying the "system" may hold the Hoyas back. No, no, no, Dan. It is only the "big" games that the Hoyas can't win because of the system. And by "big" that only means Final Four games and pre-conference games against higher ranked opponents on their home courts in the 2007-08 season. Of course, anyone who follows basketball knows that Big East regular season and Big East tournament games, as well as NCAA Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games, are excluded from the "big" games category.
