"Seattle officials filed a lawsuit Monday to keep the SuperSonics from leaving town, saying the team's profitability in much-maligned KeyArena 'has less to do with KeyArena than perhaps the Sonics' ability to defend the high pick-and-roll.'"
I really hope the bit about the pick-and-roll was in the lawsuit

Nope, it was just in the comments by City Attorney Carr.
This whole thing is just a damn mess at this point. Yes, the Sonics signed a lease in the 90s in exchange for badly-needed renovations. Yes, KeyArena is not a good, or even average, arena by today's NBA standards. Just about every option in Seattle has been exhausted, and no feasible arena plans have come out of it. The fact that this is being reduced to litigation indicates the sorry state of negotiations between Clay Bennett, the city of Seattle, and the state of Washington. I want the Sonics to stay in Seattle probably more than most others on the board (St. Pete, I know you're already designing Green 22 OKC Sonics jerseys) but this is just another event that looks like the obvious conclusion is the 07-08 season being the Sonics' Seattle farewell.
