Is it possible that Georgetown is bringing the Media's ignorance of us upon ourselves? The program seems to want attention. (Not letting Freshman speak with the media during first semester) I think this might possibly affect getting games on tv and respect from the majority of analysts.

Georgetown has had this policy since JTII was coach. It didn't affect our appearances on TV in the past and created some media interest that was called Hoya Paranoia then.

Is it possible that Georgetown is bringing the Media's ignorance of us upon ourselves? The program seems to want attention. (Not letting Freshman speak with the media during first semester) I think this might possibly affect getting games on tv and respect from the majority of analysts. The lack of TV games this season is due to our general awfulness last season and beyond (we've been an NIT team or worse since the late-'90s, excepting the Sweet 16 run several years ago.) Although Thompson's "media relations" philosophy certainly engendered some ill will in some writers (Feinstein, in particular), I don't think it's ever had an impact on TV scheduling. ESPN (and CBS, etc.) want good, meaningful games (aka ratings). You generally don't get those from teams that go 4-12 in conference play and miss the postseason. Given that most everyone figured it would take JT III at least 2-3 years to have success, the Hoyas didn't figure significantly in any network's programming plans this season. It also doesn't help that historically Georgetown has filled it non-conference schedule with some of the worst teams in D-1. That's as much a factor as any in why we're rarely on TV before Big East play begins. Georgetown-The Citadel is never going to headline ESPN's Monday night lineup.

Georgetown-The Citadel is never going to headline ESPN's Monday night . At least not until we build a Cameron Indoor-like on campus arena and surround the court with students. I wouldnt be surprised to see Duke vs The Citadel at Cameron Indoor on ESPN. Didnt they have a Duke game against Fairfield on ESPN last season?

I should add, too, that I don't think the national print media has been ignoring the Hoyas this season. The recent LA Times article is a good example. The story Andy Katz did on the challenges facing JT III and Norm Roberts at St. John's is another. If the Hoyas continue to win games, the media interest will continue to grow.
Even Dukie V. made mention of the freshmen in one of his incoherent rants on ESPN.com ...

During Seton Hall/UConn game Bill Raftery is giving Georgetown and John Thompson III some love. Its a little thing but every bit counts.
